“lovely hotel”
Reviewed 2 January 2012

i spent Christmas in Siem Reap with my family and stayed at Steung Siemreap hotel from the 23-27 dec and it was an experience I'll never forget. the rooms with big and clean. Shower and toilets were extremely clean and they had all the usual ammenties for a 3 star hotel, the rooms came with a balcony reminded me of the cockpit hotel in singapore. the balcony faced a temple And it was a lovely experience watching the monks in the morning wake up for prayers. Breakfast was good the normal standard american breakfast with some asian cuisine, try the dry cambodian noodles. it's so good! Staff were all friendly and always willing to help. the hotel is 2 mins away from pub street and old market. lots of things to do in the evening after visiting the temples.

this hotel is very well located, a couple of minutes stroll from the centre of town.
Our room was clean and spacious overlooking the pool and was very quiet.
Breakfast which could be eaten in or outside by the pool,. was very varied and good.
The staff at this hotel were particularly friendly and eager to chat .

The advantage of choosing this Hotel is its location (center of the town). Anything is close by walking. Also near to the famous Pub street.

My wife and i got a fabulous, large room in the new building. corner room with 3 balconies, wood floors, more space than we could use. as usual on our trip, even though they claim free wifi, you can only get it in the lobby. breakfast was included and good with fresh fruit, made to order eggs, etc. location of hotel was great, next to pub street and pub alley. we would like to thank Mr Ben from minmax travel to recommended us a great hotel. Our first meal was the best at a little place called Mandalay Kitchen. They had a combo of Khmer and Myanmar dishes. The waitress was very friendly and helped us pick traditional dishes.

Firstly, the positives. Our room was clean, large and while the floors were a little gritty generally very clean. The location is outstanding. You stroll outside the hotel and you're in a very vibrant and exciting area full of restaurants, with the old market opposite and a major Buddhist temple less than a minute away.

Unfortunately, the rooms are very noisy not from outside but from within the hotel, with slamming doors, flushing toilets and what sounded like footraces across the wooden floors by fellow guests at 3 a.m. The hotel is frequented by large tour groups so people are coming and leaving at all hours. The pool is tiny, far too small for all the guests staying in the two wings of the hotel and there is also a strong, unpleasant smell of septic.

The staff are friendly, but have very little grasp of English. We tried to make a local phone call from our room to friends staying in another hotel in Siem Reap and being unable to gain an outside line finished up having to go down to the lobby. It was a very frustrating experience, being a cross between Monty Python and Fawlty Towers and it would have been much quicker and easier to have taken a tuk-tuk there.

Breakfasts are limited and very crowded.

Would we stay there again? No.
