My partner and I recently stayed at the hotel, while it is a great location and some of the staff was friendly, you do have to walk over the road to the pool. The hotel is on two sides of the street so if you want to be on the side with the pool you have to make the request. In the five days we were at the pool not once were we offered a drink of something to eat. There was alot of movement by various staff all the time chatting between themselves not at all friendly towards any of the guest at the pool. At breakfast time it was frustrating as they keep running out of food and not replacing any of it. The room was clean but at no time did the staff wash or mop the floors. Over two days there was a private party held by the owners, children screaming in the lobbies and at breakfast. The staff couldn't cope and as a paying guest I felt we should have been treated with more respect.

'Like'
1. Location is great - centrally located near to pubs & restaurants, less than 5 mins walk to old market , less than 15 mins walk to Angkor Night Market , massage center... can find food at anytime from 6.30 am to 1-2 am...
2. Room - comfortable bed, clean room and toilet (a little bit of mould is found in toilet ceiling), good room size for double , hot shower available with bath tub, hair blower in toilet., over 80 channels tv --- a reasonable 4 stars room facility
3. Free Wifi service @ room - The hotel only offers free Wifi at lobby, but as our room is at ground floor near to lobby, we have the wifi service as well. Two thumbs up !!!
4. Gym room is available
5. Staff are friendly and helpful, but not able to communicate fluently in English - They tried their best ...
6. Price is very very reasonable for all above quality...We booked really early and paid about <50 USD a night.
7. Quiet - although is in city centre, is not located at main street.

'Dislike'
1. Room is cozy, but not bright enough for reading at night - suitable if you wish to rest/sleep in room all time..
2. Swimming pool - is clean but extremely small.
3. Breakfast - I never have the chance to try the breakfast but was told that the breakfast was not good and offered cold food..We ate at restaurants for breakfast all the days there.
4. Wifi connection is not good most of the time. But on occasion that is available, the speed is excellent.

The Hotel is perfectly located. Very close to the main markets and entertainment area, however, be warned. If you intend staying here you should expect the unexpected. The Hotel sits on both sides of the road, with only one pool. Guests who had booked a long time in advance, were shovelled from their original rooms to old unused ones which were filthy and run down. Broken sharp steel in bathrooms and rotten curtains, which were subsequently removed after complaints. One restaurant was closed (without warning) so the owner could refurbish it for his private party. All paying guests were subjected to one small restaurant and no pool service, while is 'family and friends took over the hotel facilities.

The restaurant staff were incapable of dealing with more than one dish at a time. It was not possible to get any two items hot at the same time. You could have poached eggs only one day, and fried only the next. If you asked for something, it would turn up, alone, and the other items would all turn up individually (just as you finished the previous part of your meal). You could not even get coffee and milk at the same time. There was not enough glasses for orange juice, And to cap it all off, the place was over run with the owners family and guests so you couldn't even get a seat.

The owners 'private' party took over the pool area, and paying guests were not considered for any inconvenience. Balloons popping all afternoon, grinders, paint smells, construction noise, etc., which went on for 4 days.

If you are going to promote the hotel as open for PAYING guests then at least respect them. It is disgraceful that the owner considers his friends should displace his customers. He should have closed the hotel for this period, and NOT cheat his customers out of an enjoyable holiday.
ps: If you are going to promote Complimentary WiFi in room then it is expected to work. It Doesnt and then staff 'suggested' we could pay $2 per hour to use the hotel computer in the business centre.

Steung hotel is in an ideal location in the middle of Siem Reap town.

The hotel is neat, clean and really well maintained. Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble.

When booking ask to stay in the main building where the pool is - otherwise you have to cross the street everytime you want to use the pool and have breakfast. Not a huge hassle as the street is super quiet - but I guess its nice not to have to do that.

Siem reap is a sleepy village which goes to sleep at about 10pm so you dont need to worry about traffic/people noise if you're staying in town.

Wouldnt hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Spent 5 nights in Steung Siem Reap, the staff are really friendly and rooms are clean. Located a minute walk away from pub street and old market but no loud noises at night (maybe because I was staying on the 3rd floor). Will definitely stay at Steung Siem reap again.
