“Excellent value and location”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

The Somadevi Angkor Hotel is well located not far from the night-time attractions of Pub Street and the Night Market. Also, it is well placed to visit Angkor Wat.
It has a great pool with stools in the water around the bar. Good Happy Hour prices and very friendly staff. An ideal place to chill out after a day at Angkor Wat.
Excellent breakfast.
Lobby area very well appointed. Plenty of Tuk-tuks available for getting about.
The air-conditioned rooms are very generous, clean and airy.

Great ambience and tastefully decorated without being over the top. The pool is superb with stools up to the bar in the pool. Good value for money. The building works had no impact on us in terms of noise. Good location - easy walking to Pub Street - tuk tuks are sitting outside the hotel ready for a $2 drive to anywhere. There are laundries on the street at the front of the hotel - $4 for a kilo of washing within 24 hours.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the pool was superb.

The hotel is located a nice easy 20 minutes from their airport, with easy access to shops and restaurants. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The room is large with great facilities and air-conditioning. Breakfast is a good choice of western or Kymer (Cambodian) dishes from 6am ~ 9am each morning. The hotel has a traditional kymer dance performance each night over dinner from 7pm ~9pm. The hotels fitness room, spa, massage area and sauna are all excellent. An excellent hotel for everyone including families with children, solo travellers, honeymooners and elderly travellers

We recently returned from our honeymoon to Vietnam and Cambodia. We arrived late in the evening and were awoken to the sounds of axel grinders and hammers at 7am! Looking out of our window we were greeted with a scene of a building site in progress from where they are expanding the hotel. We were really annoyed about this as we had not been advised of the works beforehand or when checking in, and when contacting our agent he stated he had not been informed by them either.
Despite this, our room was comfortable, if a little dated, but had everything we needed. The walls were a bit on the thin side and so the acoustics were quite carrying! I was happy to see there was a bath in the room.
We did manage to have one good day by the pool when works stopped. It was one of our most relaxing days of the holiday.
The location is ideal. Lots of little bars and shops nearby, and pub street is less than a ten minute walk. Turks tuks from right outside hotel if needed
We ate here one evening and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Our breakfast was also vey good
Staff were friendly. We stayed here during the Khmer new year and so the atmosphere was particularly jovial!
We loved Cambodia and if the building had not been going on would have been very pleased with the hotel

Visiting Siem Reap for the Angor Wat temples? This is the best hotel in the area in our view. Modern, friendly, accommodation and always wanting to do that little bit extra to ensure your experience with them is exactly what you envisaged. The location is handy enough for the city centre and easy enough for access to the Angor Wat district or the airport. The hotels facilities are first rate rooms large , clean and comfortable the dining room for breakfast was spacious as all the choices, and there are many choices, nicely laid out nod over a large area to accommodate the amount of choice. Great pool and at night there was some pool side entertainment that we did not expect.
Overall this place pushed all the buttons, if you get the chance to book in here, then you will have made the right decision

Room Tip: We took a deluxe room on the op floor of the new building. There are only a few of these rooms but w...

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of our Asian trip. Our room was on the top floor with a shared balcony overlooking the pool area. The lift doesn't reach this floor so you have to get off at the 4th floor and walk up two flights of stairs. Our room was quite large and the bathroom had a separate shower & bath. Some of the furniture in the room was a bit dated & showing some wear as were the curtains but everything was very clean. Had dinner in the restaurant on the first night and the service & food was good. Buffet breakfast was good too. There's a large pool area with a swim up bar and loungers. There are shops literally around the corner from the hotel and it's just a short walk to Pub Street and the market area.

Room Tip: Lift doesn't go to the top floor.

Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

We stayed for 4 night and when we arrived at 9:30am we were pleasantly surprised to find our room ready, we had a first floor room over looking the pool it was great, the room was clean and the bathroom was massive with a huge show and separate bath, the pool was great, would recommend more seating as people were sitting on the ground at times, we did find the the staff very friendly but some with very little English, but that was ok with us, I had a manicure at the spa it was good but as that section is outside near the beautiful gardens there were a lot of mossie's around.
It is so close to pub street and local restaurants, we ate out every night, unfortunately both fell ill with flu so headed back to the room early, however there is a very helpful chemist on a few shops down this was very handy. Breakfast wasn't that great but we did get there late , the omelettes made to order were great but everything else was pretty cold and someone else mentioned yes there is a supervisor who looks very unfriendly watching the staff, however all in all a great place to stay we were very happy for the price.
