from Singapore.

My wife & I are from Singapore and we have just returned from our 1st visit to Siem Reap, Cambodia yesterday. Out of sheer luck after going thru the few reviews, we chose Villa Amalia for our 6-day 5 nights vacation there. Honestly, I was a bit unsure initially - this being a small establishment; what with so many bigger hotels available. But, all my fears & worries were totally erased the moment we set foot there.
A young handsome Cambodian guy picked us up at the airport when we arrived in a Lexus SUV. A very nice man who was actually the owner/manager of Villa Amalia, Mr Li Chheang! Where in the world does the Boss himself personally pick you up from the airport to welcome you? From that moment on, all the positive reviews written thus far; especially the one written by Maria F. from the USA ; are true to the very word. You simply need to stay there to feel the personal dedication, attention, care & love that exudes from Mr Li; his hand-picked family staff; and even his trusted tuk tuk driver, Adam!
The villa itself is truly a paradise; a sanctuary & I would add that the peace & privacy of the place is truly unique.
We were surprised to learn from Mr Li when he fetched us to the airport yesterday for our departure that we were the only Singaporeans who have stayed there. I confidently recommend Villa Amalia to all fellow Singaporeans planning on taking a break in Siem Reap.

First of all, thank you for having chosen Villa Amalia for your recent stay in Angkor.

In the name of Mr Chheang and his cambodia staff, thanks A LOT for your comment.

I chose this location based on the reviews I have read. I have to tell you, I don't like sharing this gem of a place but I can't say enough about it. The Villa Amalia is Cambodian owned, operated, designed and constructed. The attention to detail in the all of the villas, including the main lobby/villa, landscaping, all of the grounds are exquisite, elegant, cosmopolitan, serene, calming, soothing ambience....words do not do justice. The rooms appointments are modern with along with sculptures (created by one of the owners, Mr. Li Chheang) touches throughout. The shower is to die for! There is a theme that repeats itself throughout the location, I get the sense of the layout of Angkor as the muse for the design. When you walk through the carved wooden gates into the interior of the grounds, you notice yourself saying "Wow"! It took several years to build from what I understand, but the labor of love injected into this place shows at every turn, nook and cranny! You feel the positive energy when you walk in and around the grounds. Not only is their attention to detail placed into the design and architecture, but it is also placed in the guest service that Mr. Li Chheang and his staff executed throughout our stay here!

My husband and I are from the US and have stayed in many 4 to 5 star hotels, and what we experienced here is above and beyond the guest service we experienced in the states! My husband loves his beer ice cold, he requested if they can have his beers placed in an ice bucket at 4pm each day so that when we arrive from our adventures, he has his ice cold beers waiting for him. Not only did Mr. Li hear his request, he listened. He had the beers placed in a mini chest and the beers were ice, ice cold! Another example that knocked our socks off was when we were leaving to go see the sunrise at Angkor Way. As we were making our way to the front of the hotel, Mr. Li met us by the lobby and he and several of his staff members were waiting to hand us our breakfast, to go! Who does that? Well, they did! This is not only a gesture, but its their core value of caring for the guest. Mr. Li and his staff has shown consistently how they place the needs of their guests first; and it shows. They walk the walk.

Mr. Li also put together an itinerary for us, two days worth amongst the temples, and other sites. He arranged a Tuk Tuk service to take us. Bunadame "Adam", is the best Tuk Tuk driver around, bar none! We've taken a couple here/there, but Adam won us over with his genuine-ness, patience, kindness and follow through. We felt safe with Adam that we traveled to all of our destinations with him, safe and sound. He, like Mr. Li and staff, shown us kindness/caring, they took care of us from the heart.

Service such as the one we experienced from Mr. Li, all of the Villa Amalia staff, and Adam, our tuk tuk driver, are few and far in between. They exemplified an exception to the rule. They have created lifelong Raving Fans!

As we leave today, I wish I can take all of Villa Amalia, the team and Adam with us to Thailand......They will be a hard act to follow and have raised the bar on guest service. I highly recommend Villa Amalia when you travel to Siem Reap. Like all of the other travelers who have reviewed it, the words paradise comes up consistently. But I would like to add, sanctuary, a sense of well-being, cared for, soothing, elegance, and happiness too. This is what one feels and experiences when staying here. I will be back!

Magnificent slice of paradise amongst the hustle & bustle of Siem Reap. Cambodian run, owned & built. All staff & owner are extremely proud of there resort & have a yes i can 5 star attitude. Everything is extremely clean & well maintained. Beautiful tropical gardens that are full of life that strips your stress away once you walk through the gates. Gardens & lobby displaying statues & asparas that have been handcrafted by the owner whom is keeping the art of stone carving alive, his pieces have amazing attention to detail like that of the grand temples in ankgor. Pool is massive and deep centred in the middle of the resort that brings ambience & ease of access from all villa's. Quick to get to by foot or tuktuk to town or markets. Villa Amalia is a must stay place in Siem Reap.

When we first walked through the doors at Villa Amalia we instantly felt like we were in heaven! A small resort with a large pool and one of the few resorts owned and run by fully Cambodian staff. The Cambodian owner with his staff built the resort themselves from scratch and it shows. They are so proud of there efforts and I myself have never seen such a well cared for clean and beautiful space. Made up of only 9 rooms the place feels very exclusive and spacious.
Service is very good and naturally slightly timid, but if asked will go above and beyond.
If you want a relaxed slice of heaven within walking distance to everything and a 5 minute walk from the hustle and bustle its great!!
We stayed for 3 days and then checked into Navutu Dreams which although good service we left after 30 minutes to come back to this Oasis.
They were very surprised but happy to see us back! Nothing wrong with Navutu dreams but justs feels alot more authentic and personalised here.
Loving the pool right now! Writing this review on our quick return.
