Like some other people might have mentioned, the ride to the hotel was a bit disheartening especially if it's your first time to Siem Reap. Our driver also took a detour through some winding dirt road, but we reckoned he's being cheeky to lure us to another hotel. For those who are a bit superstitious, you may like to know our driver pointed out the hotel is located almost right in front of a wat which is also a funeral house. Otherwise, dont let any of this discourage you.

The Heritage Suites has a tucked away location, not exactly located along the Tonle Sap River like a lot of the more popular hotels e.g. FCC, La Residence, etc. BUT it's still walking distance (about 15mins) to the famous old market and pub street, where you can get cheap drinks and decent Khmer food.

We stayed in one of the six rooms (not the villas unfortunately), but they are roomy with very high ceilings. The bed and pillows are extremely comfortable. Since all doors and windows face the inner courtyard, there's no view but it's quiet.

The pool area is nice, with rather attentive staffs. They came over to get our drink order, and brought us hors d'oeuvres almost right away. Very thoughtful. The area also gets quite a bit of sun from morning on, so it's great for those looking for a tan.

Breakfast can be served at a place of choice, your room, by the pool or at the air-conditioned restaurant above the lobby bar. No buffet, but you still get a lot out of the choices of continental, American and Khmer. The portion is generous. The Khmer noodles is fine, but the other bits that come along can be a bit of an acquired taste. Dont order scramble eggs though, I would think they can do a better job but it's dry and a bit over-cooked.

The lobby bar is lovely and tastefully decorated. The drinks are 5-star hotel prices, but I guess you also pay for the nice ambience. Drinks are only 1/3 the price around the pub street area.

The staffs are very helpful. Gave good directions and efficient in arranging our tuktuks to Angkor Wat sites and our van to the airport.

Definitely worth the stay!

We've not long returned from a stay at Heritage Suites and wanted to outline how fantastic the entire experience was. The hotel is a small paradise within busy Siem Reap.We would go back at the drop of a hat!

It has extremely tasteful, beautiful rooms with exquisite surroundings / garden and lovely staff who go out of their way to provide excellent customer service endeavouring to meet your every need.

The manager, his wife and the Adventour tours team are extremely helpful, very engaging and responsive to needs.

Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and had its own large glass windows looking out onto a small beautiful garden with outside shower. Inside we had our personal steam room and bath tub along with walk-in shower and wardrobe all of which was beyond our expectations.

Breakfast is large, lovely, relaxing and served with attention to detail. All meals are delicious and ample.

The pool area is beautiful enhanced by the open fire at night so swiming is wonderful at night too.
The hotel is quiet with guests who fit easily into the extremely relaxing personal touch ambiance of the hotel.

We did two tours with Adventure team - sunset on the lake and a private boat tour (one way) to Battambang. Both are quite expensive but absolutely fantastic so if you can afford it both are well worth the money.

All in all we would highly recommend this hotel - excellent place and well worth the money.

My husband and I chose Heritage Suites based on its Relais et Chateaux designation and the recommendation of a travel agent, and we were not disappointed.

The owners’ careful attention to detail was apparent from the moment of arrival, when we were picked up at the airport in a vintage Mercedes and offered our choice of freshly squeezed watermelon or pineapple juice (if you’ve never tried the former, you’re missing out). Upon check in, we were personally greeted by hotel owners Didier and Pierre, who were friendly and attentive throughout our stay.

Our (spotless) bungalow was decorated in a clean, very Zen style, with natural materials and neutral colors, which made it a tranquil retreat after a hot, dusty day exploring Angkor. The open-plan suite featured a sitting area, private garden with outdoor shower, steam room, gorgeous soaking tub, walk-in closet with plenty of shelves and hangers, and a comfortable bed with individual reading lamps. When we returned from dinner each night, we found the diaphanous white curtains that separate the rooms drawn and the lighting dimmed – very romantic.

The hotel serves both Western and Khmer dishes, which are fantastic (the amok fish is sheer heaven) and reasonably priced by Western standards. Breakfast is extensive, with a choice of an American, Continental or Asian menu (the steamed rice dumplings served with the Asian breakfast are incredible). Dinner service was impeccable – prompt and attentive, as one would expect from a formal restaurant in a major European city.

The pool is beautiful, especially at night when fire-lit – perfect for a post-dinner dip. The hotel’s gift shop is an ideal place to shop for loved ones, offering beautiful scarves, books, vintage photos and other tasteful gifts.

For an insider’s view of Angkor, try one of the hotel’s Heritage Adventure excursions such as a day with an archaeologist, sunset at a quiet temple, and trips to nearby Tonle Sap and Banteay Sray. Though not inexpensive, we found the tours worth the cost, as the official Angkor guides are abysmal.

Stayed in this for my Honeymoon. The staff could not have been more helpful. The room (Bungalow Suite) was amazing - "Zen" type garden, HUGE bed, walk-in wardrobe, steam room, shower and a bath for 2 looking onto the garden.

Food and wine were great and very reasonably priced - well it is run by some expat French. They have a selection of trips to the nearby temples (but mostly we got a local guide USD50 per day for guide, driver and Tuc Tuc) and were willing to tailor one to our particular requirements, arrange the driver and guides within 24 hours.

The pool area is great, but we didn't have the opportunity to go for a swim. They light a fire pit and it's great to relax on the sunloungers sipping a Singapore Sling watching the fire on the water and the Gecos on the wall.

No only can I thouroughly reccommend this hotel for anyone else but I will say that we WILL be going back, but this time for a longer stay! It is not the cheapest hotel in Siem Reap but I'd be very surprised if there was a better one.
