“perfect for mid-range”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2009

Palm Village Resort, just on the outskirts of Siem Reap, is the perfect get away from the typical hotel in Siem Reap. Located on the edge of town, this little oasis is small, intimate, tranquil and quiet. Don't expect 5 star service, but that is what you receive, as the staff was attentive and friendly in meeting our needs. We stayed here the last three nights of our stay in Cambodia and we ended up eating all our meals at the restaurant, especially ordering ahead from the Khmer menu. The food was wonderful, and breakfast was included in our price. We enjoyed the pool and took advantage of the massages offered at the resort, enjoying it so much I went back the next day for another! The resort is on a small piece of land with beautiful flowers, fruit trees and manicured lawns among a row of bamboo air conditioned bungalows. If you are reading this because this resort is in your price range, then book it. I can't imagine spending $200 + for one of the top end resorts when you can enjoy this quaint place for a fraction of that price. This was our favorite place for the month we were on vacation in SE Asia. contact hotel for pick up from airport or other options.

Hi , this was a lovely place but too far out for me! Had I explored the meaning on a 'little far out' I would have stayed else where. We used the hotel Tut Tut to bring us home at night because the hotel drivers could handle the sandy road better. Perhaps unfounded,I did not feel that safe leaving it too late to come home at night.

This was one of the nicest hotels/resorts of our entire three month trip. It was a bit of a splurge for our budget (although $37/night is rediculously affordable considering what you get), but we wanted to treat ourselves after staying in so many hostels and 1 star hotels.

For the location critics, I would argue that its location is one of its strong points! After a day of walking, we wanted nothing more than to retire to our own little hut, swimming pool and amazing restaurant. It's outside of town, away from everything - the roads leading to the Palm Village are nothing more than packed dirt littered with potholes and the odd cow. You don't see any tourists, other than the ones staying at the PV. It's like living with the locals.

The restaurant is great, and relatively affordable. The staff are awesome, the huts impeccably clean (with hot water shower, cable TV and a comfortable bed) and the grounds stunning. There's an interesting lookout tower at the northeast corner of the property, ideal for a cup of coffee overlooking the countryside. No, this isn't Club Med, but in our opinion a far richer experience.

we stayed at Palm Village for 5 nights with friends from Australia. the location is a bit out of town, but we liked driving through the little village near by especially when school was out. we biked into town too, and it was a very easy ride ($3 US for a bike, or $3 for a tuk tuk for 4 people). It's also really close to Angkor.

if you get the chance to eat there do - the food was amazing.

the bungalows were clean and simple and the pool was great on really hot days. breakfast is limitless and included in the room rate, and the free internet and pool table were a bonus. the thing that really made this place for us was the staff - my husband and friend spent a few late nights playing pool with the young guys who worked there and had a great time chatting and learning more about cambodia.

We arrived at night to Palm Village, so the bumpy ride on a tuktuk felt a bit long from the other side of the city, but it was well worth it! The cottages are nice and simple, the bathrooms ok (our's had a bit of problems a with hot water) but the setting is incredible in the middle of an oasis-like, huge garden. It's quiet, the only sound you'll hear are the birds, crickets and frogs. The service was absolutely perfect. We took advantage of the extra services they offered , like the apsara-dance show and a trip to the floating forests, and both were unforgettable, especially the latter one. Also, the massage therapists were very excellent, professional, and more than the money's worth. We had our breakfasts and meals by the pool, where we could have all the privacy we wanted since most of the guests don't use this opportunity.
We finally wanted to spend an extra night there, and I would like to return some day if possible.

We stayed at the Palm Village resort over the New Years Holiday, staying for 2 nights. It's quite far from the city center, but I think in Siem Reap, this was more a plus than a minus. The back road getting there is bumpy, but as far as I could tell, it's one of the closest hotels to Angkor (wat, etc...) We borrowed books for $3 each and rode there to watch the sun come up. It took about 20 minutes by bike.
The pool was almost too cold, but the food served at the hotel is quite good. The staff was mostly polite, and we really didn't have any problems.
The bungalows were cozy, but the shower pressure was ridiculous, to the point that if you wanted actual warm water, you had to settle for a trickle.
The bed was comfy, and everything was not bad over all.

  • Liked — Yummy dinner.
  • Disliked — Pool was cold, shower pressure way too low.

The Palm Village Resort outside of Siem Reap is a fantastic place to stay when visiting. The hotel is located a bit outside of town but the town of Siem Reap is easily accessed by tuk tuk or cab arranged by the always helpful front desk staff. The accommodations consist of wooden cabins arranged along a beautiful foot path. Beds are comfortable, TV's have satellite. Everything in the Palm Village is immaculate. There is a beautiful pool and massages are available poolside. Food is delightful, make sure to try the Khmer food.

The staff is very kind and helpful and able to arrange any number of site seeing trips at very reasonable prices. We were able to arrange an evening cruise to the floating villages on the Tonle Sap Lake and a guide for our one day trip to Angkor Wat and were really pleased with both. Pick up from the airport was on time even though our flight was early.

I would recommend the Palm Village to anyone who is in the area. It's a great place to stay and I hope we are able to return.

  • Liked — The beautiful setting and friendly staff.
  • Disliked — It is outside of town so eating is restricted to the hotel.
