“Ideally peaceful retreat from Angkor sightseeing”
Reviewed 10 February 2011

This small verdant "resort" with wooden bungalows and a pool is the ideal retreat from Angkor sightseeing during the midday heat and at the end of the day. It is very quiet, peaceful and comfortable, situated down a dirt road well off the main road from Siem Reap to Angkor. This is not the place to come if you want to be close to the bustle of Siem Reap town (not a very charming place, in my view). And you will inevitably eat most meals at the resort, and use the tuk-tuks or cars parked outside to get around. But, for many travellers, this place provides an ideal base for Angkor. Recommended.

We husband and I absolutely loved staying here over our anniversary. It is run by a lovely family, who were so helpful and gracious. The food - especially the free breakfast - was just delicious! The grounds are gorgeous...flowers everywhere, and the pool is so refreshing after the temples. Only downside is that you are pretty far outside of downtown Siem Reap. We stayed near downtown one night and went out to restaurants, then stayed here 2 nights for a romantic and peaceful getaway.

A beautiful, small family run resort set away from the crazy hustle and bustle of Siem Reap. Guest accomadations are in self-contained bamboo cottages, with a deck, air conditioning, and a fan. The swimming pool is small, but clean and adequate for soaking on a hot afternoon. Lush landscaping complete with flowering shrubs, bushes, banana trees, and statuary fills the grounds of the resort. The open-air lobby features a pool table, two cute and entertaining dogs, and tables with fresh flowers and cutlery set out for every meal. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, the resort offered tours are very reasonably priced, and the food is divine and very reasonably priced. The only downsides are expensive alcoholic beverages (by Cambodian standards) and a lengthy (20min and $3) tuk-tuk ride into town.

We stayed here for 3 nights at Christmas for a great mix of sightseeing and relaxation. Our hut was very nice with a fan and air con plus en suite. Really good value at $45 per night, breakfast was included and available on the hut terrace, by the pool or in the restaurant and was good. This is a family run hotel and it shows, the staff are friendly and helpful. The pool is a very welcome haven after touring the temples and great for families. I had a really good massage and thankfully no hint of a happy ending which is not always the case in this part of the world, even in hotels!
The hotel is about 10 minutes from town but there are always tuc tucs available. Be prepared to get dusty in tuc tucs but that comes with the charm of the location. My only gripe is that you are stuck with the same driver throughout your stay, Ours was a bit jaded which was disappointing but we understand most of those based at the hotel are fine.

We stayed in the Palm Village for two nights and absolutely loved it. Our bamboo hut was comfortable and had everything we needed (though a bathtub and hairdryer would have made it perfect). The hotel's setting gives you the impression you're in the middle of the jungle: you are surrounded by lots of greenery, and frogs and exotic insects are frequent visitors to the communal areas. None of this in the rooms/huts though, which are all very clean. However, if you are a light sleeper, you may not like the sounds you will hear from birds and other animals in the night. I didn't mind it at all, but my partner was woken up a couple of times on the first night.
The staff in the hotel are excellent and very, very helpful. Breakfast was great too, and you can choose to have it by the scenic poolside, which we did. On the day we checked out we had to leave very early to catch a boat to Phnom Penh. The hotel staff arranged for a take-away breakfast for us, which we really appreciated a lot.

Thoroughly recommended. I would just reinforce the positives of most of the other reviews - friendly and helpful staff, great food, terrific quiet location away from the city but within easy reach of both the temples and Siem Reap, lovely garden and pool ... we loved it. Stayed for 5 nights, cycling to the temples on 2 days, Siem Reap on another and taking their tuk-tuk tour with Mr Da to the more distant temples on a third day.

Great hotel and one of my favourites throughout my SE Asia travels. The hotel is not centrally located - but we hired a driver for the whole day; so that was not a problem. Tuk Tuks are cheap and available everywhere. The food at this hotel is simply amazing. We just didn't want to eat anywhere else. The spa services and pool facilities were great for those who need some time away from the madness of tourists around you.
