Thom Whittaker was so helpful to us. He took us to places that were not crowded making it possible to make photos without people in them. The sun was somewhat uncooperative but I did get some shots with that beautiful side light in the morning and more in the afternoon.
I was impressed that at the very beginning, before I took my first shot, Thom asked about my photo experience to assess how well I knew my camera. He was prepared to teach me the basics of my own camera if need be. Although I know my camera he still was gave me some very good instructional tips that were quite useful. I will remember them to use in the future. Thanks for that Thom. I’ve always been a bit shy of shooting in B&W and in RAW. He had me doing both by the middle of the day! I didn’t know that I would have full colour in my Raw file when I shoot B&W. Now I can have the best of both worlds.
He took us to some places the tourist and certainly the tour groups don’t go. He called them “secret places” that he had stumbled on. That was amazing to see.
Also, Thom has a driver, Mr. Dee, who often drives him and his clients. Mr. Dee was busy the day we were with Thom. But Thom called him and asked if he could drive us the next day to places we wanted to go. What an amazing man. He told us stories of his childhood during the Khmer Rouge period.
Thom also gave us a written list of where we had been that day, a list of suggestions for the next day and a couple of general resource suggestions.
Lastly, Thom was very easy to be with for the day. He is an easy conversationalist. He has good knowledge of the local people (but states clearly he is not a historian, which was fine by us). He expresses great respect for the Cambodian people and is involved in charity work to help make things a little bit better. We think that is wonderful.
Good luck to you Thom in your future endeavours.

Having this experience gave us the perfect introduction and understanding of the Khmer people and culture. Expect more than a photo tour it's a life lesson. Thank you Regis and Tom.

Tom and tuk-tuk driver Mr Dee were excellent guides to a selection of temples, including Angkor Wat at dawn. Tom led us to spots off the beaten track, and opened our eyes to new perspectives and unusual lighting. As a photojournalist, Tom has interesting insights into modern Cambodia and a deep respect and love for the culture. Thoroughly recommended for anyone with an interest in seeing Cambodia's sights a little differently, and learning how to improve their photography at the same time.

We had an amazing day with Regis to visit the less known places. His knowledge of the best locations, details of the what to shoot and from what perspectives are superb. Best of all, his friendly connection with locals made our experience interacting and photographing them a delight.

No matter the different level of experience or gear we used, Regis patiently guided us to level up our photography skills. We left with a collection of photos at a level that we have not done before, which rekindled our passion for photography and desire to go out there to shoot more photographs again.

We took a private photography tour in Siem Reap with Regis for February 2018. My husband is nearly pro so I wasn't sure I would be able to follow technically (until that trip I was still using my Canon G12 in automatic mode...) yet Regis was able to adapt to our different levels of skills and we both benefitted greatly from just one day with him.

Régis is amazing at connecting with people (he speaks Khmer) and knows a lot of hidden gems photo spots. He adapted the itinerary to our photo desires (temples and monk portraits), had plan B and plan C in case there weren't photo opportunities there on that day and improvised when we saw interesting scenes on the road (children fishing, a kid training at Khmer boxing in the red sand) and helped us to gain more insights on Cambodian culture. Needless to say, he is also a really nice guy, trustworthy and reliable. It was a very unique experience.
