“Uncomfortable room, average service”
Reviewed 22 January 2014

We were booked to stay at the Angkor Riviera for 3 nights, pre-paid in a suite. We only stayed for 1 night due to a very uncomfortable bed (rock hard) and a poor sleep. We were already getting no sleep due to the hard bed but an alarm went off at 3am and we got a phone call at 6am. The phone call was of someone trying to do a room to room call and didn't know what room they needed. After we were disturbed we heard the rooms next door also receiving calls. Apparently you can call rooms directly without needing to go through a switchboard to confirm the guest's name as to not disturb others. The room was clean enough but had a very uncomfortable lounge also. The TV was very old and small as well as the remote not working even after a service call to fix it. Shower was an in-tub style. We left with 2 nights already paid and went elsewhere. They refused a refund upon our complaints but it was worth the move anyway. Breakfast was included, it was satisfactory. The 'orange juice' was a strange tangy mixture of warm water, cordial and sugar.

Room Tip: Upgrading to the more expensive room did not seem to help anything.

Positives - Clean enough, good location, shower in bath, good firm beds in decent sized rooms.
Negatives- windows do not open so no fresh air in room, shower in bath, service sometimes slow or misunderstood, problems opening safe, more Mosquitos in hotel than outside, cocktails are poor and the bar has only one music CD!
Overall - you feel like you are in a nice hotel and it is in a good location

After staying at some very fine hotels during the Thailand portion of our trip, we arrived at the Riviera. Only good point is location near the Night Market and the most impressive part of the facility is the open courtyard adjacent to the pool. Staff were helpful. Arcane hotel policy required a 5USD fee for misplaced electronic plastic key.

Arrived and were offered a diluted tang-like beverage which also turned out to be served as the OJ for breakfast each morning. Hotel is a large group oriented hotel with stained walls and carpeting, small rooms, dated facilities and showing the wear of the the groups. Dining room has tilted shades that were in disrepair with no apparent effort to fix them.

The hotel looked as if opened in the 1950s as all members of the group agreed. Shocked to learn that it opened just 6 years ago. I could go on and on.

The hotel has a sign on the check in counter that it was Trip Advisor Choice in 2012 and that in 2012 it received an 8.8 from booking.com. That was then and this is now. Worth the $50-60 night for a 3 star place.

Room Tip: Much better choices in the vicinity of the Night Market.

Stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. The hotel room is clean and comfortable and is located at the main area where it is convenient to walk to the Pub Street. Staff service were so so and not consistent. Buffet breakfast has a lot of variety to choose from.

Tourist class 4 star hotel. Located within walking distance to Night Market and Pub Street. My friend got bitten by a kind of insect in the room while sleeping. Lodged a complaint to the hotel, the condition did not improve. Shower water temperature changed from warm to cold while in the showing. Overall, not a bad experience but do not expect more than that.

Not that great of a stay for 3 of our family members in 2 rooms. Not very comfortable accommodations as the room is quite small. They also get very large groups with junior high school kids so the lobby can be very noisy. The hotel staff were not very attentive and can be dismissive when you have an issue. Would not stay there again as Siem Reap has so many choices when it comes to hotels. I felt a bit let down by the reviews of this hotel when we chose to stay there.
