Loved this place!
Stayed 4times longer than I should have couldn't leave.
Great set up with pool, bar and food.
Stayed in dorm which was lovely, private rooms very nice also.
What made the stay was the staff. Currently being run by an traveling couple who couldn't have made the stay more enjoyable if they tried.
Great buzz and atmosphere perfect for groups and solo travelers.
I'll be going back!

We stayed in this hostel recently for 2 nights. Georgie and Kevin were LOVELY and nothing was ever too much trouble. Kevin came and brought us out some food in the pouring rain underneath an umbrella!
Pool was a good bonus, slightly irritating that we couldn't use it due to the amount of rain!
Rooms were pretty average. Beds wide and clean but very squeaky so whenever anybody moved in the middle of the night you could hear it. Only 2 plugs in a 6 man dorm.. Not ideal and A LOT of bugs but we are travellers so not complaining too much! Overall I would stay here. Very friendly and welcoming feel.

A 7ish min walk from Pub Street, and with a large clean swimming pool, well stocked poolside bar, outdoor seating, full comfort food menu (bit pricey, but good), that’s where the positives end. Inside was dark and dingy, the rooms small and cramped, and swelteringly hot, despite the ac being on. The beds were questionably clean, and the bathroom and tiny, drippy, damp hole in the corner of the room. Cold water, no pressure, rusty taps, the works. The crowd are generally young party people, loud, and there for fun and cheap beer, and cheering the girls in bikinis (!) Not my sort of place, but see how it would suit some. Was concerned that passports were taken on check in and put in a “locked locker in reception”...which I saw open and unattended, so keep an eye out !

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

I can see that you stayed in April, but took some months to write your review. I agree with your review, but have had full occupancy for many years, and it's been difficult to close down to repair and renovate. In May and June this year, just shortly after your stay, all rooms and dorms were repainted, both walls and ceilings, as have bathrooms been repaired and painted. Hallways have also been renovated and painted too. Most private rooms have also been equiped with flat screen TVs.

Thanks for your time.

Stayed at Downtown for a couple of nights to visit the temples of Angkor. Really good location for this and a 5 min walk into the centre of Siem Reap for restaurants, cafés and markets.
Mark and his crew were really welcoming and we really enjoyed our stay. Our double room was spacious, and although the air con was temperamental, they had a technician fixing all the air con units while we were there.
The only minor issues we had were our room was left open after cleaning on one occasion and the wifi didn't seem to work amazingly. In addition, some of the other travellers were selfish enough to sit outside our room at 3am, making vomiting noises and playing around. Bit annoying for a 4:30 am wake up for sunrise- this isn't the fault of the hostel though.
We would still thoroughly recommend Downtown Siem Reap as a friendly and good value place in a brilliant location. Cheers Mark!

Had a good stay at this hostel, stayed for 7 nights in a private double room and it was all good. Room was offered to be cleaned everyday but we didn't need it done, towels and clean sheets provided which is a refreshing change from some of the hostels we have stayed in SE Asia. Good pool area and bar, close proximity to pub street and market areas and friendly staff. Only negatives we had was the wifi was so up and down, also we weren't too fond of the tab idea - but I'm sure if you really wanted to you could pay up everyday or something ?

Wouldn't hesitate staying here again or recommending this hostel to anyone.
