Cool drink and towel on arrival. Registration mediated by a concierge, who then escorted us to our rooms and provided information on how to access free wi-fi, unprompted. Luggage was all sorted out in the background. All nice touches which created a very good impression. Had to wait a short while for the room to be ready, but we were obviously well looked after till then. Standard modern spacious clean well-equipped and well-supplied room. Turndown service a pleasant surprise. Overall service levels consistently high, but struggled a bit with language when trying to negotiate laundry/restaurant/spa bookings over the telephone. Breakfast was very good. Had dinner at the restaurant one rainy night - food was OK, but nothing special. Spa was good. Swimming pool pleasant, but smallish, so gets a bit crowded. Laundry service - not cheap, but was problem free. Check-out smooth. Location very good with easy access to the Angkor site, Siem Reap town and airport. Thumbs up to Tara Angkor!

Simply amazing!
Wow where do I start?! Me and my new husband love to travel and we thought for our honeymoon we would do a bit of backpacking( for old time sake!) and a bit of luxury. After a brutal and dirty 9 hours bus ride(avoid if you can!) from the sihanoukville where we stayed in $20 very basic bungalow ,walking into Tara Angkor was like a dream come true. Since we arrived at 6am, We sort of expect to pay for an extra night (trust me , I would have paid anything to wash the stench from the bus off !) The staff welcome us with smile and apologized for not having our room ready (!) and after 15min we were whisked into a beautiful, clean, modern room. At the moment we decide we are never going to “rough” it anymore. We went and did a bit of sightseeing and when we returned to our room, there was flower petal on our bed, fresh fruit, bath with flower and a CAKE! Waiting for us in our room!!! (I mentioned that it was our honeymoon to the booking agent and asked for a double room instead of twin)
And all these for $30/a night in June!!!! WHY WOULD ANYONE want to stay anywhere else!?
The spa was simply heavenly…”This is amaaaaaazing! I LOoooVE IT!” my husband said after our massages. (keep in mind we’ve been to Thailand 2 times and we usually have one massage every couple days.)
Food in the restaurant was great as well.
Simply amazing!
Thank you Tara Angkor staff for making our honeymoon so special 

The Tara Angkor was exactly what we needed after spending long days visiting the local sites. The staff were all very welcoming with no request being too much trouble. Breakfast was great, the pool was nice and refreshing and the room was well appointed, comfortable and clean. Although you could not walk to 'Pub Street' (where all of the restaurants are) tuk tuk drivers were always outside the hotel and happy to take us into town for US$2.00 - they were a great way to travel in the evenings when the heat of the day had passed.

We stayed at Tara Angkor for 3 nights in February and it was a great! We paid around £38 for the room so it was very cheap and high standards. We arrived in to Siem Reap at 7am so we were way before the check in time but after an hour wait (with a welcome drinks and cold towel) our room was ready. We just sat by the pool so was extremely happy to hear our room was ready early. The room itself was clean and far better than what we were expecting. There are bath robes available and you can wear these down to the pool which a lot of hotel guests do. The hotel was perfectly located for us… in-between the main attractions of Angkor Wat and the town for the evening. Probably about a 5mins ride in to town and maybe 15 mins to Ankgor Wat. Would happily recommend this hotel!

Breakfast in the morning came included with our room and there was so much to choose from. The pool area itself was clean and never busy and food from the pool bar was of a high standard. I would recommend getting up early for the site seeing whilst it is not too hot (do a sunrise) and then come back to the hotel for afternoon sunbathing around the pool and catching up on sleep. We found a local guy with a motorised tuk-tuk outside the hotel on the first day and he took you where ever you wanted to go all day. We paid him for the day but he was also happy to come back at night and drop you in to town for $2! So cheap! He was even happy to wait around in town for you whilst you had dinner and drinks and take you home but we declined that… didn’t think it was fair on him to wait around not knowing when we would be ready to leave. And you can pick up tuk-tuks easily in town. We told him the day before that we wanted to do a sunrise at Angkor Wat so he was there around 4:30am to pick us up from the hotel. He even took us to the airport with our suitcases! Im not sure if they are employed by the hotel but there are usually a few local guys hanging around to take you anywhere.

This was my second stay at the Tara Angkhor Hotel. The room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities you would expect in a good hotel. The staff were gracious and helpful without exception. The breakfast buffet was among the best I have found and I do travel a great deal. The restaurant food was also very good and reasonably priced. I also found the location very convenient for visiting Angkhor Wat and the town of Siem Reap. I have and will continue to recommend the hotel to anyone I know who is traveling in the area.

This was my second stay at the Tara Angkor - the first was as part of a golf group, so did not see much of the hotel - this time was with my daughter and her friend. We got a great (off-season) rate - just over $40 a room. My daughter was picked up at the bus station - charge was a little high but well worth it for peace of mind. Check in was efficient - we arrived on different days and no problems. The girls (early 20s) enjoyed their stay - loved the swimming pool area(no charge) and spa where they enjoyed excellent massages at reasonable rates. Breakfast is an extensive buffet with an egg station - very nice. I really can't report any downsides. This is a high quality hotel at better prices than many small hotels and guest-houses. It is centrally located - a $2 tuk-tuk ride to Bar St and the surrounding area in the evenings, and on the road to Angkor Wat for the temples. If you need a tuk-tuk ask for Pheap, who is very reliable, has good English and has reasonable rates. He will drop you into Bar St - phone him when you want to go home and he will collect you - all for $5.

8 of us in 4 rooms(4 adults, 4 teens) for a night. fresh, contemporary, clean rooms with comfy beds, good pillows and a pristine and quite stylish bathroom with an excellent full power shower and nice big bath. in-room safe, tea and coffee jug, free bottled water and fruit. good soft towels and a decent flat screen tv. nice roof top pool and a very good buffet breakfast selection (included). free internet downstairs in lobby. pleasant and efficient front desk staff. you could easily pay $80-100 for exactly the same or below this standard in other places in siem reap and phnom penh. you wouldn't get a room like this for under $170 in Bangkok. we paid US$40 per night (inc taxes) for the standard twin (doubles were sold out) but they offered to push the beds together if we needed it.
tuk tuks easily available out the front. after a really exhausting trip up from vietnam and phnom penh we couldn't drag ourselves out to pub street so decided to eat at the hotel. this was the only downside - poor room service menu selection and food/service in the restaurant in the evening. very average pizza for the kids, poor quality red duck curry and everything else pretty dismal except for the lime shake. the head waiter appeared very stressed out and rushed us through the service which wasn't at all the best way to end the day. so if you can muster the energy, eat out for lunch and evening meal. apart from this, an excellent choice.
