“Great Location, Fantastic Hotel”

A good location on the way to the Angkor Complex. Plenty of nearby shops. Pool good. Rooms just the right size. Staff very friendly and helpful. Drinks by the pool are cheap. Breakfast was fine - typical of this style of hotel.

Our room was large and well appointed, clean and well maintained. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. The a/c always worked. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I shopped in the little gift shop for my only souvenirs the entire trip - lovely silk scarves for only $7. Close to the downtown area but far enough for quiet. International buffet breakfast had choices for all.

LOCATION: Very well located; on the road to Angkor from Siem Reap, so quieter than in the centre of town. A few minutes by tuk-tuk into Siem Reap.

FACILITIES: Superior king room. Very clean rooms, with good housekeeping standards. Comfortable bed. Artificial lighting is not great, with no down-lighting in the bedroom. The bathroom is fine, but the shower-head is fixed too low, and there were issues with water leaking onto the floor (via circling the outer edge of the bath) whenever using the shower. The gym is well lit and air conditioned, and usually empty; the pool is a relaxed retreat from the heat and dust of Angkor. Room service is quick and reasonably priced (compared to 'tourist food' prices in SR), though in general overly salty. The staff have a pleasant manner and a good standard of English. Free wifi works well throughout hotel.

I found the Tara Angkor to be a great base for exploring Angkor and the surrounding historic sites, as well as for heading into Siem Reap by night. The hotel has a high level of service, and has a relaxed feel throughout, courtesy of letting in plenty of natural light and allowing for open spaces.

We stayed at the Tara Angkor hotel during our visit to Siam Reap. We stayed in the deluxe rooms. It was clean, comfy and well furnished. The breakfast was average. Looked like they cater mostly to the SEA crowd. But then, as long as you eat eggs, you can survive. Didn’t try the lunch or the dinner there as we mostly were never there in the room at that time. Always out. There are nice massage places, restaurants walking distance from the hotel. They have an in house spa as well. Even the National Museum is just a stones throw away. It’s worth a visit.
We left some luggage in the hotel, they sent it by tuk tuk to the airport too. That was nice. We liked the place. Worth a stay.

The hotel is really well maintained and clean. Room is big enough, comfy bed, large TV and free wifi. Aircon works well, slippers and bathrobe all provided. The environment is really good and relaxing. Staff are so helpful and friendly. They helped us to arrange bus ticket to Phnom Penh. They packed our breakfast when we planned to leave hotel for Angkor Wat early morning 5AM to witness sunrise since breakfast starts at 6AM. Poor thing was many ants inside the package, so we only ate the safe covered ones. From the hotel it takes 20 mintues to Angkor Wat by TukTuk. To access city area costs US$2 only. I would recommend anyone to stay here, and will come back again if happen to be here. Great value, overall!

Stayed 4 nights at Tara Angkor in early October 2012.. Just on outskirts of town on road to Angkor Wat. Ideally situated in my opinion. Tuk tuk $1 into town and maybe $1.50 / $2 back at night time. The hotel was impeccably clean, both rooms and lobby excellent. We both liked the size of the room and quality of the furniture. Air con was good and wifi readily available in both bedroom and lobby. Pool and surrounds were very nice and comfortable. Breakfast buffet very good with nice selection. What can I say about the staff other than they went out of their way to be helpful. All were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Would I recommend this hotel, absolutely. If we go back to Siem Reap I would stay there again..

The hotel is modern and the rooms are well appointed (nice bathrooms although small, secure safe, tv etc). It's slightly out of town to the north (direction of Angkor Wat) which can be an advantage or disadvantage (tuk tuks are $2 or less into centre of town). The bed was quite firm, but was a large bed, rather than two matresses pushed together.
The facilities were good - nice pool (about 20m length so not ideal for swimming but good for lounging), spa with plenty of options (although more expensive than elsewhere in town).
The breakfast had a large selection which changed daily and featured a good mix or western and eastern food.
The staff were exceptional and very friendly - they really ensured that you were looked after, especially breakfast staff.
This wouldn't be the type of hotel I would normally choose to stay at (too large) but the staff made it worthwhile.

Room Tip: Room 355 is at the end of a corridor next to a service elevator. No noise from this, but allows a qu...
