The Tara Angkor is well positioned between the Angkor temples and the main tourist part of the town. Therefore it is nice and quiet yet within 5 minutes of the mayhem that is Siem Reap.
The hotel staff are really excellent and the rooms are OK, and if you are using this as a base for temple exploration it fits the bill really well.
The only minor criticisms are that there are no balconies to dry your clothes after what is often a dusty, sweaty and tiring day, and the clothes line that pulls out over the bath won't get your clothes dry overnight. Most day trips to the temples seem to end between four and five, and the cool pool thoughts dominate your mind. However, the pool is small a d getting a sunbed impossible, so the shower awaits.
Breakfasts are OK but the juice quality is not good and there is little choice of bread, though again it is a minor criticism. Service in the breakfast restaurant was excellent, as was the coffee!
If you are looking for a comfortable temple base, this will do a good job.

Stayed in this lovely positioned hotel for three nights, only 5 mins tuk tuk ride away from centre of Siem Reap (2 dollars).
Pool area very basic but nice, maybe a little small, but spa area and staff were second to none.
Many thanks for a nice stay.

The hotel is standard, as the rooms, breakfast, etc. The best thing about our stay was that we booked a tour of Angkor Wat through the hotel and was given an excellent guide called Chanta! He was sooooo kind and funny! We owe him for our great stay in Siem Reap!

We could not have asked for a better hotel - good location, clean and neat, friendly staff. We had two free suppers here-courtesy of our tour company, and the meals were delicious. You could catch a tuk-tuk to basicaly anywhere, the drivers do not hassle you here. I had a delicious coconut shake at Cafe Puka Puka.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon trip. On arrival we were seated and given refreshing drinks and towels. The lobby smelt amazing and had fresh flowers and such a relaxing feel to it. We were shown to our room by a lovely young gentleman. I feel bad as I've forgotten his name but he was a new trainee, and he was still trying to improve his English. He was so polite and when showing us our room he was excited to point out the decoration on the bed for our 'hooneymoon' (The mis spelling gave us a giggle!) and he presented us with a cake and insisted on taking our photo.

The bedroom was really comfortable and a good size. The bathroom was nice and also a good size with a separate bath. You are provided with bottled water and there is a mini bar. There is a strange sort of balcony thing but you have to climb through the window to stand on it and it's only tiny anyway. The bed was really comfortable! We didn't use the air con too much as it was cool during the evenings when we were there. To be honest we only really spent time in our room to sleep as there is just so much to see in Siem Reap!

After our first day of temple exploring we bumped into the young trainee as we were getting into the lift. He was apologizing over and over and we were dreading what he was going to tell us! Turned out as part of our honeymoon the hotel were giving us a private candlelit meal and he'd forgotten to tell us this. This was unexpected and we had it on our last night. You can pay to do this meal and I highly recommend it! You have a table looking out over the pool and they put candles everywhere. We had 3 courses and it even included a bottle of wine, it was one of the most memorable evenings of our honeymoon. The waiters were so nice and polite too, he stood away around the corner so as not to intrude but would would glance round now and then to make sure we were OK.

I also spent a short time relaxing by the pool after getting back from the temples one afternoon and it was lovely and relaxing. The pool is cold but nice after being hot and stuffy all day! There are towels provided and drinks service if you need it.

I think breakfast was probably the weakest point, it wasn't terrible by any means but out of the 4 hotels we stayed in during our honeymoon it came bottom. However I did like that you could go and pour your own coffee instead of waiting to be served it.

It was our first time in SE Asia and we were a bit nervous about going and using the tuk-tuks but they are just so easy and nothing to be nervous about! The first evening the doorman went to get us a tuk-tuk and it's only $2 to Pub Street (you get the price before you go but its always $2). The next evening the doorman didn't offer to get us one but we went out the hotel and to the left and some tuk-tuk's hang out there together and as soon as they spot you they come running over. We never had any problems with them. Its extremely easy to get one back to the hotel as they're everywhere asking people if they need tuk-tuk! Pub Street wasn't as bad as I thought it would be either! We ate at the Cambodian BBQ the first evening which was fun. The second evening we went to Haven Training restaurant which I reserved a few weeks in advance. HIGHLY recommend it and reserve so you're not disappointed! Read about it on their website, amazing what they're doing.

I would love to come back in the future and would not hesitate to stay at Tara Angkor!
