“friendly b&b”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2012

Not sure if I would rate it the #2 place to stay in Puerto Natales, but it's a very friendly and nice B&B. Rooms are small and very basic, but the owner is very friendly and helpful (he organized various bus tickets and other things for us) and also knowledgeable about TDP and helpful in planning the trek. The lounge downstairs is nice and the breakfast very tasty.

Tip: We loved the coffee place "Coffemaker", just a block or two away -- it has excellent coffee (the southernmost Marzocco machine in Chile), which is hard to come across in Patagonia otherwise.

Rodrigo is the best. He is an extremely kind, helpful, trustworthy with tons of useful information. He is one of the reasons why we liked Puerto Natales. Please note, he runs the entire B&B so don't expect him to be sitting at the reception desk 24/7.

We agree with other reviewers that the rooms are adequate (if sparsely furnished) and the owner is friendly. However, we encountered two unacceptable problems. First, the towels. We changed rooms after our first night to get a better view (our original room looked out on a junk pile). The owner moved our luggage to the new room while we were gone for the day. We were surprised that he also moved our used hand towels and bath towels without giving us a way to determine whose they were, but decided it was no big deal. The next day, however, we left our wet towels on the floor to be changed (per hotel instructions); when we returned, we found that the owner had hung our old towels back up (they were still wet). Only after I insisted on fresh towels were we able to get them changed. This is clearly unacceptable behavior by the standards of any hotel anywhere. Secondly, the hotel's travel service. We booked a day trip to Torres del Paine National Park through the owner, only to find out that he had put us and two London girls on a bus with a Spanish-only guide. He told us after the fact that he had done this to save us $4.00 but did not give us an option of an English-speaking tour beforehand. This seriously impacted the day's enjoyment for all four of us. If you decide to stay here, I strongly recommend booking your tours with a more knowledgeable travel service. Having given the negatives, I can say that the breakfast was quite adequate and featured cooked-to-order eggs.

Room Tip: Request a room on the second floor.

Hello, we are very sorry about the towels confusion. But we want to clarify something. We never give instructions to leave towels on the floor. To request a change of towels, our policy is that you must request them or give us notice. We will certainly improve our policy communication to avoid this kind of misunderstandings. Thanks.
Secondly, our tour providers do have bilingual guides. We find odd that they ran the tour without one, we didn't expect that at all and if we had known about this particular situation beforehand we wouldn't have recommended it to any of our guests. We deeply lament the inconvenience caused by this situation.
Lastly we would like to mention that our travel service has successfully met the expectation of the big majority of our guests, our advice is completely based on our extensive first hand experience travelling through Patagonia for more than 30 years, also, our advice and travel service is available all throughout the day, even before checking in, and free of charge, no extra fees are charged like you will certainly find in other hotels and agencies.

Best Regards,

We had a fantastic 4 days this February in Puerto Natales thanks in large part to Rodrigo at Keoken.Even before we had arrived he had bought bus tickets for us from Punta Arenas airport(2 and a half hour journey) as well as arranging the boat trip to the Balmaceda/Serrano glaciers(excellent trip -good value for money including a substantial meal on the way back)He also booked car hire for us for 2 days-this was areally good way to see Torres Del Paine at your own pace with frequent stops to admire the fantastic scenery and go for walks(the roads in the park were gravel but ok.)
The hotel was immaculate and comfortable with a very relaxed atmosphere .(tea/coffee etc could be made in the kitchen)Rodrigo and his son were always there to offer advice when we requested it.Breakfast was varied and more than sufficient.Nothing was too much trouble for Rodrigo and his son Tomas who spoke excellent English-Rodrigo even organised a driver/friend who picked us up from the bus near Punta Arenas took us on a trip to the Penguin colony and then on a tour of Punta Arenas before we left.Rodrigo made our stay a great one and even took us to the bus stop on our return and spoke to the driver to ensure we got off at the right place.
The accommodation was about 5 minutes walk from the main square where there was a variety of restaurantes to suit all tastes., but our favourite was Cormoran del Rochas which was just 1 minute from Keoken -excellent value and wonderful views of the mountains(on the 2nd floor)
All this combined with 4 glorious sunny days made our stay here memorable

We stayed for 2 nights in a very comfortable and well furnished room, that was very clean and well presented. We had views of the lake and there are also views of the lake from the guest sitting room. The owners, Rodriguez and his family, are outstanding hosts, with good Engilish and very helpful;
WIFI was good and breakfast superb

We stayed in the Keoken after our W-trek in Torres del Paine.

This B&B was everything we expected, based on their website and the previous reviews on Tripadvisor. What you see is what you get! Very friendly people, nice rooms, decent bath rooms (a bit small but big enough), a lot of choice in the morning for the breakfast, etc... etc...

Given that Puerto Natales is such a small town, the B&B is closely located to everything and the staff is very helpful to indicate the best restaurant, best supermarket, etc.. Also for bus reservations and info on excursions we could rely on them (but didn't use it as we made our own arrangements already).

Just keep in mind that this is a B&B and not a hotel, therefore there is also no bar. If you want to have a drink in the evening, you have to buy it yourself in the local store. Of course you're allowed to cool your drinks in the fridge.

So why not an excellent rating? Because the B&B is so small and the walls are not well isolated (sometimes you even wonder if there is even a wall), the noise can be disturbing, especially if you want to catch an early night after an exhausting trekking. Must admit however that this was only a problem the 1st night and that a friendly request to the people using the common areas to keep the noise down was enough to make it stop. The 2nd night, we slept like babies (well, kinda ;-) ).

I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone who's looking for a place to stay in Puerto Natales.

I stayed here for one night this week with my husband and small baby. I found the rooms clean, spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small but sufficient.

Rodrigo and Gloria were excellent hosts. We are really thankful to rodrigo for organizing our trip to calafate at the last moment and also for sending my baby's bottle and phone charger that we forgot at their B&B to our hotel in torres del paine.

Highly recommend it!
