“Puerto Natales: Hostal Alcazar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2010

The Hostal Alcazar is a hidden gem in Puerto Natales. The owners picked us up from the bus station and transported us to their hotel. It was clean, nicely decorated and had great heat and hot water. The rooms and private bathrooms were modern. The owners made arrangements for two tours with a company called 21 de Mayo tours. Both were excellent. A nicer than usual breakfast with a surprise pastry was included in the price, 26000 Chilean pesos. They are building a restaurant next door and will soon have laundry facilities. This was one of the cleanest, nicest, most welcoming places we stayed on our month-long trip through Chile. Don't miss it!

Hotel Alcazara good place to stay. Wonderful, welcoming, family-run. Comfortable straightforeword accomodations at a price that is reasonable. You won't regret staying here. Also, while in Puerto Natales, enjoy a first-class dining experience at Angelica's, located on the main street downtown.

A refurbished small, owned by Spanish speaking family with very little English communication skills, and poor English speaking receptionists. need to wait for one of the guides in the evening to get anything translated. In a run down area. About 10 minutes walk from town centre. Good Dining is in centre of town. The room was small, clean and comfortable but very basic. The bathroom was also very small but came complete with shower, WC and hand basin. The breakfast was unimaginative in the dining area was simple. No other food served. There is no garden and parking is at the front of the hotel. The photo of the hotel on the website seems way outdated. There are other better choices near town and we wished we had stayed somewhere else.
Also if you want to see Perito Moreno, you will be disappointed with Alcazar tours as it takes over 5 hours to get there, you take a 1 hour boat ride, 1 hour in the Park and drive back over 5 hours to Puerto Natales. find alternatives if you want to see Perito Moreno.

We stayed at the Alcazar for 2 nights. The accomodations are very basic, sparse, very small rooms and bathroom. The free breakfast was unimaginative. The staff however is very helpful in arranging tours, getting you to and from the airport and so on.

This place was fantastic. From the moment they picked me up at the bus stop, the family staff were friendly and welcoming and helped me to arrange all of my tours with their in-house travel agency. The breakfast was delicious--hot, fresh bread and coffee-- I wish I could have brought their homemade plum jam home with me. Yum!
As for the room, all was clean, comfortable and nice, and despite what other folks have said, I really enjoyed the location. Just far enough out of town to avoid the crowds but just a 10 minute walk to everything you need. Check it out!!

A refurbished small, family run hotel, about 10 minutes walk from town centre where there is much dining to suit every pocket.
The room was clean and comfortable but basic. The bathroom was tiny but came complete with good shower, WC and hand basin.
The breakfast was unimaginative and the dining area was simple but breakfast was certainly nothing to complain about.
There is no garden and parking is at the front of the hotel but we had no worries about security.

We were particularly impressed by the consideration given when we lost our room/hotel keys. There was no fuss and no charge!!

Overall, this is a friendly, effiicient and good value hotel. Recommended.

This was the only hotel I did not book myself for our trip. It was booked through a local travel agent who was arranging my huts/bus/boat for the W trek.

The place was fairly cheap but otherwise I was a little disappointed for the following reasons:

Location is fairly far from town. Of course "far" is relative as the entire town is not very big, but still it would have been nice to stay nearer the action. Also, the feeling in the neighborhood was slightly more ghetto than other parts of town which we noticed particularly upon walking back at night.

Our room was downstairs and as we were going to bed, people upstairs must have checked in late and unfortunately the ceiling was thin and we could hear them walking around, turning on water, until they finally went to bed. It was all I could do to stop my boyfriend from banging on the ceiling to get them to stop.

I could not decide if the place was cozy or a bit of a dump. And my standards are not particularly high. It wasn't dirty, there were no bugs, it just wasn't that appealing.

They did have one computer which was nice to be able to check email before setting off on the W.

Breakfast must have been average as I have no memory.
