“Fun place!”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

Nice, clean hotel located close to the bus station, a couple of blocks from downtown, the (well-stocked and very affordable) supermarket and the ATMs, and a couple of more blocks from the waterfront.

The staff is great! I've had lots of fun chatting with them, and they were as helpful as they were friendly.

Rooms are clean and comfy, with cable TV. Be aware, however, that the provide no soap and shampoo for the showers. For the rest, everything is great, and the wifi is excellent. Be aware also that the walls are very thin. Bring earplugs for a good night's sleep on the comfy beds, and if you plan to do something else to while away the evening, as my overenthusiastic neighbors elected to do, well, try to do it as quietly as possible, please : ))

Do not be afraid, as Puerto Natales can look a bit rough on the outside, and it is especially the case for the neighborhood where the hotel is located, but it is perfectly safe, no matter the time of day or night, and the people are very friendly.

Overall, it's quite a nice mid-range (for Puerto Natales) hotel, well-run and well-maintained. I'd have no problem recommending it! I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay (I know my neighbors did)!

Ella was extremely helpful and friendly to us the moment we stepped foot into ER2. She gave us tips for our 'W' trek as well as restaurant recommendations in town. When she heard that the Chilean border was closed due to the labor strike, she even called our bus company to find out the details to make sure we could get through to Argentina ok.

We stayed in 2 different rooms on separate nights (before and after our W trek), both were basic, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning even included scrambled eggs and salami!

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at ER2 and would definitely recommend this to others.

The hostel itself is fine, the rooms are basic and clean although the walls are paper thin. The staff on the other hand are entirely incompetent and extremely rude. It all started when we arrived at 11pm after a 15hr bus trip and surprisingly were told by 'Ella' that we needed to pay in advance for our room. We were then overcharged and the staff were subsequently incapable of reimbursing our credit card. The next incident occurred swiftly the next morning. Having booked a tour through the hostel we were conveniently sent to the wrong location for pick-up; (being told to walk in the nice cold air to the bus station at 7.30am only to find that the tour had actually arranged to pick us up at the hostel). When we arrived back at the hostel after the tour (at 11:30pm) the obnoxious Yvonna came to our room insisting on a cash payment our the tour immediately. I got out of bed and informed her that we would gladly pay this in the morning but unfortunately I did not have the cash in my pyjamas. This however was unacceptable, and after Yvonna had 'spoken with her manager' we were threatened with the police. At this point I asked for my reimbursement from the first night, and was told that in actual fact we could now pay for the tour by credit card. I am not sure at which the companies payment policy had changed, but thankfully we could now pay for our tour by card.
Unfortunately the lady who was due to be working the following morning would be unable to take the payment and we would need to pay immediately. We begrudgingly got out of bed and paid.

Overall I am shocked that a hostel can be run in as poorly a manner as this. the staff were untrained, unprofessional and down right rude.
If management do not employ competent staff, this hostel is sure to fail.
It goes without say that I would not stay here again or recommend this to anyone.

Great place in PN! We stayed for a night before our W hike and 2 nights after. The rooms are clean, it is located close to downtown and the staff are amazing. You wouldn't go wrong staying here.
Thanks Erratic Rock for a great stay!

Basic rooms, moderately clean, but helpful and very friendly staff. The price is relatively high for what you get. The location within Puerto natales is ok, a five minute walk from "downtown". we could park our car in front of the hostel.

This hostel was perfect for us. Central heat works great, bathroom is clean, shower works great, breakfast is great, and the common area is cozy with a fireplace, TV, and books. We highly recommend this hostel especially because of the great staff. They are at your beckoning call and give helpful recommendations. The walk to town is very easy for how great this hostel is. If going to Puerto Natales, book in advance to secure a spot at this perfect hostel. Special thanks to Marcela for opening the hostel for us during low season when nobody else was staying there!

Room Tip: Book in advance!

Simple yet cozy and homey. That's what you get when stay at the Erratic Rock 2 in Puerto Natales. Its a bit of a walk from the main part of town but a great pick if you want to get great attention and a quiet rest. We had a great experience organizing our day trip to Torres del Paine.
We had an early pick up for the tour so they let us go in the kitchen before breakfast started to make some sandwiches to take on the excursion.
Overall a nice stay and we recommend it.
