We had lunch and dinner at this lovely place. The menu is not that big, but everybody finds something to eat. The food was really good and tasty and the waiting time was fair, at least you know that the food is freshly prepared.
The atmosphere is quite unique, it looks a bit like a hippie place and feels comfortable.

Service was good but different the both times. The first time the service staff was very attentive and quick, the second time a bit slower.

Be aware, this place does not accept any kind of credit, charge cards only cash.

A quaint little restaurant. Our hotel recommended this restaurant as one which serves authentic Chilean food, and that is what we found. Service was great, food was delicious, and quite a lot of variety for a small restaurant. The place looks a bit quirky, but that is what makes ir special. Also have some books for sale which are cheaper than the book shops. we cam e back to Punta arenas 2 weeks later and went again, and it was even better the second time. The Pisco Sours are excellent here. Delightful desserts.

My wife and I had two hours to kill in Punta Arenas before our flight to Santiago and wanted somewhere for lunch that would serve decent food and give local atmosphere. Our guide recommended La Marmita and we were delighted with what we found. The food was simple, straightforward and local with the highlight being lamb stew which had been cooked for 24 hours. Absolutely delicious. The staff were a delight, spoke English, and had an English menu available. They accept local currency and US dollars but not credit cards so make sure you have enough cash.

We ate at La Marmita the evening we left Chile! It was a wonderful send off. Great atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. It was great to get traditional Chilean cuisine on our way out of town!
