“A Fun Day”
Reviewed 16 January 2014

Our group of 8 arranged ahead of time to sea kayak with Kayak Aqua Fresca on the day our cruise ship stopped in Punta Arenas. After a ride from the cruise port to Kayak Aqua Fresca base, we suited up in the provided dry suits complete with shoes and a short drive later we were at their launch spot. We were given instructions and safety tips … like what to do should our kayak flipped over and how to get back on! There were 3 guides with us - one of them serving as the group photographer. They all were on the water with us in their own kayaks and helped with those that needed help. Our cold but sunny day turned windy quickly while we were on the water, so we kept close to shore. It was still a fun experience. The dry suits were not pleasant to put on, but they certainly necessary to keep us warm and dry. The CD of pictures for purchase was worthwhile since we have these on-the-water pictures but didn't have to worry about our own cameras potentially getting wet! Afterward, we got back to the base, changed out of our dry suits, and were treated to a nice pastries and hot drinks in the hostel at base (Hosteria Aqua Fresca). Kayak Aqua Fresca was nice enough to drop us off at a location we wanted to visit in town instead of at the cruise terminal where we were picked up; this certainly made up for 50 minutes or so we lost earlier that morning when we were picked up at the cruise terminal later than the agreed upon time, had to stop to pick up 2 other participants at a hotel in town, and then had to return to the cruise terminal to pick up 2 stragglers. We had a fun day in Punta Arenas and are glad we decided on this itinerary instead of spending all our precious time on long traveling time to go see the penguins.

“Excellent adventure on Christmas Day!”
Reviewed 9 January 2014

Our cruise ship stopped in Punta Arenas but all the shore excursions that the line offered looked lame. We contacted Cristian at Kayak Agua Fresca and asked if he had any space for our family of four. He picked us up at the port and introduced us to our other guides, Claudia and Ricardo. Claire, a post-doc biologist from Scotland is also joining us. We are taken to a farmhouse and outfitted with full dry suits which is good because it's about 32 degrees and windy. These suits end up keeping us dry and warm for the rest of the day.

It is only about a 10 minute drive to the beach where we unload all the kayaks and push into the water. We don't have a lot of experience kayaking but Claudia gives us some tips and pushes us in. It is exhilarating moving across the water. The wind is pretty strong so we stay fairly close to the shore. There are birds everywhere. The sun comes out and it is a glorious day. We race our sons for awhile then settle into a nice rhythm just enjoying the sights and sounds. AFter a couple hours we are back on the beach helping load up the kayaks. Ricardo drives us back to the farmhouse where we enjoy some homemade pastries and tea. It is cozy in the dining room and we enjoy listening to the banter of Cristian, Ricardo and Claudia. I highly recommend this company to anyone who wants a little physical adventure mixed in with their sightseeing.

“kayaking the Strait of Magellan”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

We chose this shore excursion on our trip around South America and we are glad we did it. Having kayaked only once before, on a lake in Alaska, we definitly were not experienced kayakers. Agua Fresca staff were very knowledgable and helpful, They provided all our equipment, including wet suits, boots, hoods and everything we needed to kayak comfortably in cold water. They demonstrated all the techniques and helped those who needed extra guidance and made sure we had a safe and enjoyable experience. They were out there with us every moment. When we came in they had a large snack and drinks prepared for us. They run a small hostel and have horseback riding too. They took care of us well from the moment they picked us up at the dock till they safely dropped us off. Great experience.

“A wonderful day!”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

We spent a wonderful day with the crew of Kayak Agua Fresca paddling to the lighthouse at San Isidro. The day was all that was promised and more! The staff was warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable and professional. Their goal was for us all to have a good time together and that we surely did! This area of the coast is beautifully forested and they helped us to identify and appreciate much of the local flora and fauna. We had early spring Patagonian weather with a mix of sun and snow squalls which made the day even more beautiful and memorable. Noone should hesitate to join this crew for a paddling trip on the estrecho magallanes. They will take great care of you, feed you well, and give you an enormous appreciation of this wonderful and pristine part of the world. Chris and Burt
