Shuilianshan makes a really pleasant afternoon out. There are different routes you can take to reach the top of the mountain. The longer, and more scenic route, took about 2 hours at a leisurely pace and with photo stops. There's a lovely little waterfall, a lake/pebble beach and a huge rock face to admire along the way. When we reached the summit it was unfortunately hazy, so photo opportunities were limited, but on a clear day the view would be stunning. We discovered a short - but very steep - way down which took about 30 minutes, albeit without the scenery along the way. It was busy when we visited (clearly many Chinese families love to spend their weekends outdoors) but it didn't feel to crowded or noisy, and the abundance of litter bins meant the whole park is clean. For a free afternoon out, it's excellent.
