Just a few months before, I had stayed at the Sheraton Dameisha resort in Shenzhen and enjoyed it very much. So, thinking that I would have a similar experience in Huizhou, I booked my room and traveled there. First of all, if you don't have a car, it's incredibly difficult to get to the hotel. We took a train from Guangzhou and ended up having to transfer to no less than 3 separate buses to get there. Then, as we arrived, and the workers saw us walking up on foot, I couldn't help but feel as though they were looking down on us. Obviously, most of the hotel guests come from money. You can see that by taking a look at the BMWs and Bentleys parked out front.
The service bordered on apathetic overall and the staff tried to hinder us when we asked about local restaurants nearby, wanting us to splurge on overpriced and poorly cooked food in the hotel restaurant. The beach was lame and it seems like the construction crew built too close to the water since the beach itself is only a few meters from the seawall and there isn't much sand to play on.
I'll never go back to this hotel and would recommend the Sheraton in Shenzhen if you want a beach resort.More
