Hotel was very nice and in a good location to the companies we had to visit. Rooms were very nicely appointed and comfortable especially for China. The team of people who work there were excellent and always went out of their way to answer and questions or to give us advice on how to do something. They also always reminded us to have the chinese language address/directions before we left the hotel which would have been a big deal more than once had they not reminded us. The restaurant downstairs for breakfast was excellent as well and lots of choices of eastern and western style food and prepared perfectly. The same was not really the case with the restaurant on the second floor but we do recognize our inability to understand the menu so we could have used more help there but given the very high price there, we expected more. Also the second floor restaurant really advertises Shark Fin meals and soups which was a real turn off.

This is the 3rd time I've been to Shenzhen, The other 2 times I stayed at the Marco Polo. The hotel was very elegant, but that's it. It was closer to the convention center by about a 1/2 milr or almost a kilometer. Afterwards we discussed the negatives vs the positives of staying there again or back to the Marco Polo. we will stay there because of the location. The restaurants were very expensive for China, but they were very good. The main problem was language . They spoke english, but I don't think they new what we were saying or pointing to? i stayed in a Club Room and had breakfast everyday. The first morning I had pancakes and they were excellant. The next day I ordered the waffles from the menu and even pointed to them on it. It took 3 trys and a half hour to get them! Even when up to the chef! The person i was traveling wanted Vodka in the evening, which it would seem they were out of. They went down to the bar(40 floors) below to get him a glass, when he wanted another drink, they repeated it. It was different then the Marco Polo where they understood you.

The Shangri La is a haven in the hustle and bustle of this busy city. The rome are extremely well furnished and a generous size (even in the entry level rooms) the bathrooms are a dream and the room has every way to connect your personal electronics from playing your iPad, iPod or iPhone in your room to holing up your laptop to the LED TV etc.
However it is really the staff that make this place what it is - they our outstanding and go to every effort to ensure your stay is trouble free. With any hotel there are occasions when things go wrong, but it how the hotel deals with situations that make the difference, at the Shangri La they take care of things immediately. Don't forget to have breakfast in the Cafe .. it is one of the best buffet breakfasts you will have anywhere in the world

My suite was HUGE with every single amenity required. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with 10 splendid stations with fabulous Chinese, Japanese and Western spreads. The restaurant staff was very courteous, well meaning and attentive, but seemed a little overwhelmed either by the volume of customers. The 24 hour gym with HD TVs is impressive and meticulously maintained. The only drawback is the price, which in my mind was high for Shenzhen.

I am a golden circle member and withbig disappointment i must confess the poor service delivered by staff of hotel. Staff does not understand a word of english. I strongly discourage westerners travelling fir bz to stay in this hotel. I have alreay arranged a meeting to talk to the GM to check out and move to Rutz Carlton!

This is truly one of my favorites.
Length of Stay: 6 Days

Pros: Beautiful & Comfortable Lobby with contemporary Asian decor; Courteous & friendly service throughout the facility; Excellent selection of food for breakfast & dinner; Great location with minutes walking to convention center, nearby bars/restaurants & shopping malls; comfortable & cozy room with details; Thoughtful housekeeping service.

Cons: Too much construction going on nearby; Not enough taxi service standing by; Restaurant prices on the higher side.

I would definitely stay here again on my next visit. Hopefully, there will be less construction going on nearby.

Room Tip: Choose higher floors to have better views of the city.
