“Dont bother going”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

I took a 40 minute ride to Sea World as it looked spectacular on the web.
It was aweful!!!!!!!
Its a square with a bunch of touristy restaurants and that is it.
It did not even vaguely resemble the website.
Everything there is under construction :(
What a waste.
Having Said that - the German Restaurant - Bierhaus - was amazing :)

“A bunch of restaurants with some good people watching”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 September 2013

My husband and I live in Futian and decided to hop on the metro and have a little lunch at Seaworld since we had not been to the area in quite a while. Seaworld not really an "attraction" as much as an eating area to hang out with a wide variety of restaurants with outdoor seating. The eateries include a wide variety of Western fast food, pubs, coffee shops, BBQ, Asian, Indian, etc. The upgrades over the past couple of years have made the area more attractive and modern. (however, the constant construction is getting old: Finish already! )

Metro is very convenient. Lots of opportunity for people watching or just hanging out with a coffee and a book. The area is definitely an ExPat haven with more Westerners than I have seen anywhere else in Shenzhen. A nice break from the pushing/shoving found in other areas with lots of people, but aside from lunch: nothing else to do really...

“An Ex-Pat Bubble!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2013

I've been living in Shekou for a little more than two weeks now and Sea World is the first thing I see every morning. It's a place where Chinese and ex-pats get together and socialize (or hook up!). There's plenty of international restaurants and bars, as well as the always-present McDonalds.
The place is under renovation with a metro entry construction and a ship currently going its final touches. I recommend to eat at Gypsys, a little expensive, but a great variety of international food. There's a Mexican restaurant with good deals everyday of the week. Wednesday is my favorite with Coronas at 22RMB (3.50USD). There's just a lot to choose from or, if not, seat down and watch Chinese interacting with their ex-pats counterparts.

“Sea World Fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2013

Sea World renovation construction is nearly complete. It will have substantial shopping with a new Mall and a new Five Star Hilton hotel. There are many choices for dining... The Gold Coast with Australian sea food... Gypsys... Steaks etc...The X-TA-SEA Sports Bar & Restaurant with an extensive variety of American food. There are also great Live music venues: The Terrace, Enigma, and the X-TA-SEA Sports Bar & Restaurant. Very clean modern area with lots of foreign owned businesses and English speaking people from all over the world. A great get away from the fast crowded pace of Hong Kong and much less expensive for drinks, food and lodging.

“A Place Not For Visiting At the Moment”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2013

We took the Metro train form Guo Mao station to visit this interesting place through suggestions in the internet. To our dismay, when we reached the place, it was going through a phase of great renovations & upgradings.

Since we are here, we just patronised one of the eatery which serves many asian foods. We had Hainanese chicken rice, Nasi Padang, Thai Tom Yum soup & pineapple rice with deserts.Prices with all these foods cost us about S$40 plus which is reasonable & economical for us.

As for the places of interest, it is not ready for visitors, so my advise is wait till the place is fully upgraded then pay a visit to it.

Enjoy your Shenzhen tour, folks.
