I have always wanted to visit an ethnic Chinese minority village but they are often located out of the way from the main tourist cities and I have not had extra time in my itinerary. Going to the Folk Culture Village is an awesome opportunity to see all the ethnic minorities. There is a separate "village" dedicated to each, where you see their style of homes and buildings, can see and read about their cuisine, clothing and furniture, as well as watch shows where people perform in costume. The park is so large that you cannot see it all and watch all the shows in one day, particularly if you split your day by walking to the other side of the park to see Splendid China (which you cannot miss!, see my separate review). Construction was underway in December 2012 in several areas of the park to expand the folk village with even more offerings. Some areas made for beautiful photo ops, such as a lake with water lilies. This is a great park for every age group.
