Overseas Chinese Town has different areas. One is a regular amusement park, called Happy Valley, I believe. Another is Windows to the World, which is a park that has scale copies of Worldwide Landmarks, Eiffel Tower, 'David' statue, etc. A third area, is called Splendid China, which consists of 2 parts - one is scale copies of all Chinese Wonders from all over China, and the other is an ethnic village showcasing different ethnic customs and dress from all across China. Since I only had one day, I opted for Splendid China, reasoning that I already knew what the world looked like, but wished to see the wonders of China (even if they WERE only scale model copies.) This is a worthwhile visit. I enjoyed Splendid China a great deal.

We visited OCT Shenzhen twice in 2011. On clarication, there are actually three different sections of OCT at this location. One is the amusement park area which is somewhat a cross between what you would think of Disney and Downtown Disney with an Asian twist. Having said that however I was surprised at the Western influence in architecture and services, with Starbucks, Pizza Hut etc available. The second area, a short tram ride away is geared towards nature, natural culture, and wildife. Acres of flowers and lakes tend to make this area very photogenic. The third area seems to be different again, and more driven towards Chinese culture, hostory and architecture. The three areas all include a number of shows, and attractions that blend entertainment with history and science. Given that it had been about a decade since I had spent significant time in China, it was interestingto see how many improvements had been made in the Shenzhen area, and OCT seems to be one of the crowning accomplishments.
