Since my first review I've stayed in this hotel another 3 times. Staying in rooms in all 3 of the buildings. The newly refurbished rooms in the 3rd building are genuinely western standard. (ignoring the lack of soap, which is apparently a local bylaw, crazy). The area is nice enough plenty of restaurants, ranging from KFC to local Chinese places. The nearby western style mall even has a coffee shop.
However the service at the hotel is terrible. Considering the size of the place you would have thought it would think they would have one person who could speak a few words of English. My top tip if you want a laugh is to go find the chess rooms in the basement. These can be hired by the hour and have there own reception. The guy on the desk nearly fell off his chair when we accidentally walked into the room.

Room Tip: Rooms in Building 3 are newly redone.

Currently staying at this hotel. Room is quite clean, but tired in places with marks on wall and carpet. Non-smoking room, but smells of smoke. Room (one of the better ones i think) comes with a large plasma tv, a computer (all in Chinese), intermittent wifi and no soap in the sink. An all round odd combination, but of a similar standard to travel lodge in UK.
Oh and the staff are eager to help, but speak no english.

from check-in, service was ridiculously bad. wanted to check the room before paying (a must in china), had to wait for the only one bell boy in this big hotel for 15 mins to take us while 3 front desk staff just sat there looking at me. completely disappointed in the room (but livable), it was midnight so decided to stay anyways. left my luggage in the room along with my cash. went to the front desk with a unionpay debit card to pay for the room and then was told that i would need to pay a 300 rmb deposit in cash and that it could not be paid on the debit card despite the room fee being able to be paid on the card????!! completely ridiculous! maybe they didn't want to pay the extra processing fees or maybe they couldn't figure out how to use the machine... they suggested i go to the ATM at midnight to get them additional money for the deposit because they couldn't trust me (a US passport holder) and because they didn't want to pay the transaction fees for it to be put on a debit card. stupid waste of time.

went to the room.
1. bathroom sink was clogged.
2. walls and sofa were dirty.

not worthy of a 4 star distinction. stay away.

Hello

Shenzhen is a must when travelling in south China. The LA Waterfront Hotel is new and very close to the Beach, Resturant is good and there are about the Cleanest KFC and McDonalds attached to the complex. You are out of the city but for approx $ 7.00 RMB you can take Bus 103 to Sheenan Road where you can shop till you drop!.

The sea is clean and very warm, Shark Netted and white sand. I never knew this place existed, we just booked online from our Hotel in Hong Kong and ended up staying another four nights because of the location.

Staff excellent, Rooms Clean, watch the local Beer "JK" I think, can give you a bit of a knock ha ha

Shenzhen is a good spot and close to boarder, don't miss shops at Rail station to Hong Kong, good shopping also.

regards

Rob Ferris
