Truly an amazing experience for a golfer. The golf courses are all spectacular...each one better than the other. Played 9 courses in 8 days, newly renovated Rose Poulter only one that is below par...just needs more time to settle, but the other courses in Shenzen, Dongguan and Mid Valley are all breathtaking, beautifully maintained. Caddies are very helpful and really try to make your round enjoyable, they a really well trained at reading the greens, which are very slow by compared to Australia. Hotel is 5 star, rooms are excellent, main restaurant at Shenzen could have a bigger restaurant, but still had enough choice and food was pretty good. Chinese and Japanese restaurants are excellent. Been twice and can't wait to go back.

After visiting the resort a couple of times previously for business lunches, decided that I wanted to stay here on next trip and get in a round of golf.
Started well, they where having a special for rooms incl breakfast at around RMB850 - stayed in Room 1011 and could not fault the room ! Great bathroom, comfortable bed, spacious, clean and well finished.

Had a 2 hour massage at the local spa and this is highly recommended !!! It was an long and tiring working week and this just hit he spot !! Girl was friendly and professional facilities well kept.

Asked our colleague to book a round of golf and also needed clubs, shoes etc .... Not a cheap exercise US$450 later ...
Played the World Cup Course and it was in spectacular condition ! We where in a 4 ball and behind us was a 2 ball that obviously kept catching up to us but never asked to pass. As per some of the other comments, the Marshall's are a nightmare and at times became quite distracting !!! At US$300 a round, back off !!!!
After Marshall hanging around and annoying us for a few holes he finally approached closer and issued a warning note that we where 2 minutes slower than schedule ... Are you joking ????
Anyway, seemed to scare the caddy far more than us players !!!
Went after to purchase a souvenir cap from the course and picked and payed for a couple only to realise that they charged a different price to the tag. After picking this up, I was told they made a mistake with marking the prices and that if I wanted the cap I would have to pay the 25% higher price they proceeded to show me another cap (probably the new stock) at the higher price- that was absolute poor customer service and this came from the manager who was called. It was only RMB50 but for such a large and expensive resort, KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY !!!

Time for a drink at the bar before dinner and felt like red wine - completely overpriced, but you get used to different prices in different countries and I selected a 2007 reserve Merlot from Chile.
Bottle came out and it was an 2009 .... After advising it was in fact not what I selected, I was told yet again, oh sorry we don't have what you ordered but you can pay the same inflated price for the cheaper bottle or not have it ... The waitress also decided to sound like she knew what she was talking about and told me that it should be fine ...
REALLY ??? is this what they are teaching their staff here, surely customer service has no cultural differences ???
No problem paying premium prices, but for goodness sake offer a premium service and train your staff !!!!

Not 100% convinced I'd be back, but happy to have had the experience !!!

"Dear Sir, Greetings from Mission Hills Golf Club.
We apologize for causing your inconvenience during your stay in Mission Hills and we have investigated this incident.
Below is the result of our investigation:

Regarding to Marshall, as that day is weekend, and the course is saturated, Marshall is performing his duty to maintain the smooth operation of the course.
We apologize that Marshall's attitude cause your unhappiness, we will have training on Marshall's customer service skills.

For Pro-shops, we understand that it is our mistake to have the wrong price tag. The pro-shop's staff had tried to approach you for the refund, however, as we
do not have your contact information, thus we cannot contact you for the refund procedures.

And for the bar, we will have comprehensive wine knowledge and customer service skills training on our staff.

Thank you."

Mission Hills is a special experience - wonderful courses and fabulous hotel facilities. The rooms were spacious and clean, staff well trained and the breakfast excellent. Signage could be improved. Food in the Chinese restaurant was very average, bland and expensive - possibly catering to those with inexperienced western tastes
The golf courses, despite the 'unscheduled' sanding and coring of greens, were amazing. Alas , even though we were not slow players, the constant harrassment of the marshall became annoying. MH is marketed as a golfing resort, with excellent caddies, and a field that was not full so this seemed unnecessary.
I am happy we visited, but the hassle/cost of requiring a Chinese Visa plus the 3-4 hour journey each way from Hong Kong ( customs delays etc) makes this a 'one off' experience

This is a very impressive hotel for China standard. Definitely best choice for golfer with 12 choices of golf courses. The room is clean, luxurious with view of the golf course. The Chinese food were really awesome. This is one of the best experience we have so far….

Room Tip: 6th Floor has the best view of the golf course during day or nighttime.

Upon check in by poorly english speaking staff i tried to ensure the confirmation my booking was prepaid, which was confirmed, of course they took 3000 rmb as guarantee for deposit from my CC...for 3 day stay.

Evidently upon checkout i was informed the charge to be made was including the room charge since my booking was only a reservation!!,! After again a big fight they allowed me just to pay the extras since i could show them the email by the travle agent ( i came prepared, this is China!)

So as usual they just said yes upon checkin probably not even knowing what i was asking!

I tried to make clear to take the extras charges from the CC deposit so there would be no double blocking, they guaranteed this but of course after checking my account the charge was done and the deposit still valid! I think i need to get me a non valid credit card for china check in!

Then for the golf, i was "allowed" to make a reservation for playing one of the few courses open to hotel guest, the Els course. At check in and payment for the round, a ridiculous charge of 1900 rmb i went downstairs with good hoes of enjoying myself, but to my big surprise the caddy master informed me the greens were jusd sanded yesterday and they assumed i did not mind????

Luckily a korean member services member helped me to rebook another course, the nicklaus course, where only all the fairways were pinched and sanded for 18 holes.

Conclusion, overpriced and customer unfriendly policies, i guess they do not need hotel guest or other greenfee players, why does the club have such a huge reputation? Only because it is big?

Room Tip: Find another cheaper and better place!

When you pull into the Mission Hills estate it is a different world from the usual Shenzhen. The whole place has been built for luxury and to impress. The rooms here are excellent value for money and the facilities are very good. A lot of the staff struggle with English though so you have to go with the flow a bit, also many seem quite inexperienced. One example was they did not not know that if a glass of Stella was cloudy there was something wrong with it !

Overall this is a great place to stay especially if you can get to play Golf - the courses are testing and beautiful and the assistance of a caddy is mandatory. if you do play though try and get an early tee time as it can get very hot at certain times of the year.

Also this place gets very busy at weekends with the families of locals descending on it.
