This one is typically what you would expect from InterContinental hotels. Spacious rooms and well appointed. This one is designed more of a resort style hotel, of which the original hotel before Intercontinental took over was. There is huge beach pool in the middle. So this is perfect for families.

The room is big -- big enough to sport a walk-in closet, and a 2-person bath tub, with separate rain-shower and views of the outside, though you will have to close the blinds unless you are a bit of a voyeur.

I was on a busy business trip, so didn't have time check out the outdoor pool and it was the rainy season in Shenzhen. But the gym, indoor pool and spa are top notched and well-kept. The spa includes the usual jacuzzi, sauna, steam, cold plunge. Extra is a hot-bed (tiled bench with heat underneath) ... though you will not use it in hot Shenzhen I don't think.

Breakfast is the usual 5-star hotel buffet of western & eastern food, with on-demand eggs and noodle stations -- quality is OK. But I guess it would be rated very good if you don't eat hotel breakfast too many times. It is definitely 10 times better than USA 4-star hotel breakfast!

The best thing I like about this hotel is that it is located in very quiet location without any major roads nor shops nearby, yet it is in front of a major subway line (Green line). You didn't feel you were in a metropolitan concrete jungle. In fact, there were plenty of greens around. For food you can walk across the road to a housing community with lots of restaurants, and a decent massage place. Wal-Mart is also across the road.

The staff were all helpful and friendly, and one of them (forgot name unfortunately) took the extra mile to help me with queries and booking to arrange for the transfer to Hongkong. (I flew in to HK, and was to return via HK).

Cons of this hotel is that you need to walk a lot! There are 8 floors and it is spread out wide. I loved my room, but it was a bit of a walk. The reception helped got me a closer room to the main entrance, but still it was a bit of a walk.

Overall, if your budget allows you to about CNY1200 to CNY2000/night, then I'd recommend this over similar hotels elsewhere.

Room Tip: No need to worry about facing a noisy road. All rooms are good. You might like to ask for one near the main entrance to save you some walking.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your generous comments. It is our pleasure and honor to ensure great experience to our guests. Though our big space kept you walk a lot, I believe you won't mind, or you can take it as doing excise, haha~~
We do look forward to your next visit in the future.

An excellent hotel for families with younger children!

Special thanks must go to all the staff whom we interacted with during the entire process, from booking online through to after leaving the hotel. From the start, we had terrific service and attention from Jackie Yu from the Front Office, who help us secure a room with 2 beds for our young children when this would have been extremely difficult. We were very fortunate to have booked a Club Lounge room, and although the policy is that children under 12 are not allowed access, again, terrific service from the Front Office manager Mabel Yang meant that we were still able to have snacks/drinks to be taken away with us so we could still enjoy some of the benefits of the lounge for the kids. Our son was ill during our stay and Mabel and Eric Li (concierge) came and offered help to arrange appointments and transport to a quality hospital if the need arose. We also had great assistance in planning our days from Barry at the concierge desk, and our children loved the breakfast at Mercado where we were treated warmly by Rita Gong and made to feel special with little things like remembering that our daughter liked a particular pastry and having them make some specially for her, and small things that showed attention to detail. Mabel even organised a special treat for us during one of our special dinners and called us after we had left the airport to ensure we were fine.

The hotel itself is of good quality, though areas for improvement include better decision making regarding when to perform maintenance on facilities such as the pool (do so when the hotel is quiet rather that on the Children's Day holiday itself when lots of people would want to use the children's pool!) and not having sufficient ice water in the poolside fridge especially during the hot season!

All in all, a wonderful trip, so it pays to have a good relationship with the hotel staff, who were very friendly, helpful and pro-active. We will return!

, though the best times to go are NOT during public holidays or normal holiday periods as the crowds overwhelm the staff.

Room Tip: even numbered rooms usually have a better view

checking out from grand Hyatt of hong kong I stayed for Two nights for weekends in intercontinental.the hotel is great and the room, which Was said Buffet had stayed when in Shenzhen,is nice and huge. Staffs are friendly and services is excellent.on the second night it was raining extremely heavily, but the AFOM still assigned to go outside to buy some private goods for us,so moved and impressed so much.checkin and checkout is effective and professional.

Room Tip: Buffet's choice is a good choice

This is my second stay at this hotel. This time I bought with me my swimsuit and can enjoy the outdoor and indoor pool. It's really good fun. There are sauna and steam room as well.

Went to th we the thai restaurant in the evening for a good meal and the food were delicious and reasonable price.

Really enjoy it, will come more often.
