“First the bad news-then review”
Reviewed 28 November 2012

I first stayed in this hotel in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and was lured away by a key employee here moving to a new nearby hotel and then contacting me in NY with the proverbial offer that I could not refuse and I stayed in that hotel for the ensuing years, until last September- October

After much chasing after the ever elusive sales manager and chief negotiator I returned this November-December stay and will happily give my thoughts on both stays after the bad news

On, I am told, December 31, 2012 this property as it sits today will be renovated and I have, as of now, no idea what their intent is with the coming new concept

My words as a review maybe of little help at least in the short term, but I had committed to doing this and I do it with a touch of sadness.

I loved the tiny and immaculate dining room with seating for about 50 guests.

The breakfast buffet was and continues to this day to be delightful with an excellent and ever changing selection of items with the buffet constantly replenished by the alert and caring staff.

The front desk, tiny by Chinese standards but manned usually by three super efficient staff, with most fluent in English something that is hard to find even in the larger 3,4 and 5 Star hotels in Guangzhou.

My stay was monthly so I opted for the very appealing monthly rates but am told that their daily rated compare favorably with other 4 Star hotels

I looked at single and double rooms, and found them well appointed but I stayed in a very large apartment complete with a clothes washing machine, refrigerator, stove and much more, allowing for extra comfort

The housekeeping was very good and always kept the rooms very clean

I did say and this was and is an ongoing problem, the sales staff's seemingly disinterest in new guests or even in returning guests but hopefully when they reopen thing there will be the much needed improvement

I could write more but since I am writing of a nonentity I stop here and will say that I will miss the nice days here

This hotel is recommended by a business associate due to the close promity to our office.
The location of the hotel is quite central; (anyway, travel by taxi is quite afforable)
The room is clean and spacious;
The corridor is a bit quiet, given the dim lighting and dated design. And it doesn't help that i have to walk 100m every day to the lift lobby (wish they have a travelator);
Breakfast is ok. chinese selection is tasty but a bit oily. western selection sucks. Dim sum sucks.
The receptionist attitude is poor when i checked in. However the service staffs are quite polite.
