“Real Paradise”
Reviewed 9 May 2014 via mobile

We spent 3 nights and 4 days at the beginning of May 2014 in a Ocean view room.
The room was fully equipped with everything and very well furnished, the view was spactacular from our balcony and the size was really good.
The resort is high luxury, all the restaurants are very good with a wide range of dishes.
The staff is very friendly and always ready to help you and immediately provide your request.
The beach is long one part with rocks and one with white sand all are equipped with very confortable sunbeds and available sports.
All the swimming pools are wonderful the two for little guests have sand inside and outside which make them safe for children and very fun to play like at the beach.
The adult one has spectacular view on the sea and hydromassage.
We have travelled a lot but this is the best hotel we had ever stayed.
The resort is very big and they offer a free 24 hours baggy service to move inside the resort.
All the compliments to the staff and management.

If you are researching a hotel to stay at in Sanya you will probably have noticed there are many high end new builds to choose from - so why stay here?
Firstly- impeccable architecture and landscaping. This is no high rise monstrosity like most of the other hotels in Sanya. On the contrary, you feel part of the natural landscape. The sunset bar without walls allows the perfect view of the evening sun. The steps from reception to the beach look like those of a palace. The rooms and villas nestle into the hillside among the trees. The infinity pools each have a different view of paradise. There are hammocks hanging between palm trees next to the beach. Every place you walk to in the grounds brings you to another beautiful and secluded spot.
The rooms - these are spacious with hardwood flooring and great beds! Very comfortable and huge. House-keeping maintains everything to very high standards of cleanliness.
The spa is really beautiful. The treatment rooms are private with showers and steam room next to the treatment area. Do try their signature oriental harmony massage. My husband said it was one of the most wonderful treatments he had ever had!
Fresh, the restaurant which is literally on the edge of the sea, is a very special place. Intimate and the Australian chef delivers very high quality food which is of a standard we have eaten in the best European restaurants.
The breakfast- i have had many buffet style breakfasts but this one redefines the concept. You can try the best breakfast delicacies from every country in the world: sushi, parma ham, camembert, full English, Canadian pancakes, hotpot, patisserie, fresh fruit. We would go back just for the pleasure of the long lazy breakfasts sampling all the delicacies.
But overall we loved the MO because we were made to feel like we owned it! The manager and staff treated us as if we were VIPs and nothing was too much trouble. I could easily imagine how it feels to be someone who owns their own island because here we were treated as if we did.
Many here have mentioned the beach and swimming but i loved it because it is natural coral reef. The hotel are trying to work with the authorities to re vitalise the reef and to build easier access. I swam in the water and it was clean and wonderfully unspoilt. Put a pair of neoprene wet shoes and a snorkel on and you will discover the real riches of this spot.
I realise i have written a lot and I don't if a hotel has not impressed me but this one was special. I hope to return.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. We live in HK, so Sanya is a easy weekend trip. We last visited and stayed at the Ritz.
The MO had better reviews and feedback, so decided to try.
The MO is 40 mins by taxi from the airport.
First time visitors to China might feel better to get a car from the hotel and spend a bit more. The taxi que was non existent with empty taxis milling around. You can't tell who is a 'phantom/black' taxi or a real one. Though we speak Mandarin well, we were still hesitant to get in the taxi without verification, but in the end we did, and the taxi driver drove us to the hotel. It cost about 55 CNY.
We were pleasantly surprised to get upgraded to a suite. The suite was lovely- over 1k square foot, with a separate living room, huge bathroom, balcony, the works. there was also a fruit basket which was nice.
The view is very nice, many pools, the beach is a non event, especially the sand, I don't think I saw anyone swimming there.
Like many resorts in China- you will find that families bring their extended family, Mothers, maids, children along, so don't be surprised by that. Even the private adults pool had children swimming in it with zero enforcement by the staff.
I also found that around the pools there was almost no staff in attendance- when I went to find them as I was trying to order some food by the pool, I found a group of 5 playing with their iphones in the corner. Not surprised for a hot day, but really not the service I expected at the Mandarin Oriental! That would not happen in HK.. or Bali, or Phuket resorts.

But don't let that deceive you- the property grounds are beautifully manicured and huge. We never left the resort- the restaurants were all good and reasonably priced. Most of the staff seemed really nice.

It's on it's way to join the rest of the MO's reputation as exceptional hotels, and it's without doubt the best hotel in Sanya.

I will be back for sure!

The minute you arrive at this resort you feel like you are in another world. We had a harrowing journey but on our arrival the staff upgraded us to a suite and then did everything they could to make sure we were sleeping on an incredibly comfortable bed as quickly as possible. From then on things only got better, with each day beginning with a wonderful breakfast, relaxing by the various pools and snorkeling off the secluded beach. The staff are the friendliest ever and will ensure you have a very relaxing stay. My only suggestion is that they change the cold Jacuzzi into a hot one. Try to stay on a Saturday night when they have a great outdoor BBQ. Enjoy.

My husband and I stayed with our children, ages 7 and 10 for 5 nights. Wish it were longer.... The moment the driver at the airport handed me a cold towel I knew this was going to be an exceptional hotel. The grounds are gorgeous with the outstanding landscaping and 7 spectacular pools. The room (which was upgraded just because) was very nice and comfortable even for the 4 of us. The pool bar was great for daily mojitos which were the best! Also, the kiddies loved their complimentary ice cream everyday at 3:30! The staff was very courteous and aimed to please. Have to also mention the unbelievable breakfast buffet! Absolutely would come back here in a heartbeat!

I have been several times in China, and I really like this country but Sanya is beyond words. And there just to make it even better is located the amazing Mandarin oriental. Location is very good since one is close to the city but once in the property it feels secluded.
The view is fantastic, service is superb. The Spa is celestial. Coming to this hotel was a dream coming true.
The rooms are spacious, the beach is very nice though not the biggest beach. We loved being welcomed with flowers and a refreshing drink, even when we arrived early in the morning they offered us the room.
The steam bath was not working in the main health club and we were offered to use one of the suites at the Spa for free, that was a really nice touch.
It is sad that not many people in the west know Sanya... this is still a destination to be discovered in this part of the world.

My husband and I were amazed at the excellent hospitality we received during our 4-day stay at the hotel. The duty manager (Derek) can speak Cantonese, which was a great surprise and relief to us, and provided us with superb service. I spent a wonderful evening at the seaside restaurant called 'Fresh' recommended by him and was given a complimentary birthday cake! It is a great place for a getaway and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the city! Will definitely visit the hotel again and may try the villa next time!
