We have stayed at this hotel on and off since 2003, on our own or with other groups of people. These last couple of visits we have less and less welcome as foreigners, even though we speak reasonable Chinese.
This last visit we booked via Ctrip, arrived and checked in no problem, we were given breakfast vouchers for 2 people but were told our two children could have breakfast for free. The first day, yes they eat for free, but after that no they were not allowed to. This even though local family after local family were let in with only breakfast vouchers for parents. Reception did not help in any way.
Room was reasonable, although housekeeping wanted to clean the room before 9a.m.
The Russian TV channel is now missing from the TV's in the rooms.
The hotel no longer seems to accept foreign credit cards either.
It's saving grace's of central location and private (not so private with people climbing over the fence) may unfortunately no longer be enough to bring us back for another stay.
