2 hours are enough for this small town. you need to buy tickets for entering different house or garden or temple. we can't find a place for sitting down and having a cup of coffee. maybe I should have tea instead of coffee, but I wanna coffee. that's the difference from other water towns like Tongli and Zhouzhuang. few foreigners here. it's interesting to taking a boat and havin the lady singing when rowing the boat.

Easy to reach from Suzhou now the subway is complete, last stop on the line, but from there still a short bus ride to the old town entrance, or hire a rickshaw for about 10 rmb. This is a smaller - and in parts grubbier - version of some of the nicer water towns near Suzhou, such as Zhouzhuang. Still, a reasonable day out, walk by canal, have a boat ride, some nice photo opportunities etc. Free entry at this time of year on a weekday, but ancient houses and museums have ticket fees, about 20-30 rmb each, but a 60 rmb through ticket lets you into all so a better deal if you want to see the houses and gardens - although all are very similar to Suzhou gardens. Peony garden up the hill from the visitors' centre is pretty.

I had a hard time climbing up the hill. My teen age daughter almost fainted. I advise if you do not have lots of stamina, don't bother climbing the hill. However, if you reached the top, the scenery is all worth it, The temple is located at it's peak. We were not able to visit the whole place since we ran out of time. It closes 5 pm. So is you would like to go there, better check out the surrounding spots at the bottom before climbing up. The place is so nice and quiet. I like to go back.
