Description: The Bookworm Suzhou is at once café, bookstore, restaurant, library, bar, comedy club, and live music venue; truly a central cultural hub of the great city of Suzhou, and one of the most classic expat-operated venues in town.Located just off the famous ShiQuanJie street downtown (just by the PingQiaoZhiJie intersection), it plays host to delicious foods, drinks, and activities both local and from around the world. Head down anytime, be it for a proper cup of coffee and a sandwich, a cold beer and some laughs, a bit of sun out on the patio, or to check out one of the many cool weekly events that keep this cultural heart beating.

“Best western meal we had in Suzhou”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

We went there in the afternoon when it was quiet. The weather was nice enough to eat outside and the food we ordered was good with generous portions and modestly priced. A nice friendly atmosphere. This is obviously a regular meeting place for ex-pats - and for very good reasons.

It's hard to find. But we enjoyed the afternoon there. Food was good. We had hummus and pizza both very good.
Nice and casual.
Many foreigners.
I will go back for sure.

“The cheapest real coffee I have found so far.”
Reviewed 31 March 2013 via mobile

Real coffee is widely available in china, but if you fancy a good one (not the water served by 85 degrees or the crap from Starbucks) it turns out mostly to be quite expensive. Especially in the more touristy places. We bumped into the Bookworm and were triggered by its relaxed atmosphere and its surprisingly fair priced coffee! If you like to relax somewhere for a lazy afternoon, this would be your place. Also, if it is sunny, they have a small terrace available in front, hidden from the hectic traffic.

“Expat haven”
Reviewed 18 March 2013

The Bookworm Cafe in Beijing is obviously an expat haven - there was an Australian Literary Festival going on while we were there! The Bookworm operates largely as a library for locas, with some new books and travel guides on the side. The food is nice, but having a glass of wine and reading from random books was a treat - a refuge from the madness that is Beijing.
