Just spent a weekend in Suzhou and really enjoyed it! We stayed in Pacific club suite, it's a fancy hotel with traditional Chinese decorates which i loved it! Room was big with really a cool view but also very private, staffs are very friendly. Enjoyed the pool time a lot too! Cant wait to come back again.

I don't really know what to think anymore about the Pan Pacific.

I used to love it when it was a Sheraton. But now that they changed owners, service and food is going down the drain:
You have to remind every staff three times of your order. You have to fight to get a new towel or an ashtray. You get asked three times your room number for breakfast.
On the food side, it gets worse. Food selection is horrendous. I stopped half way through my Sunday buffet brunch to go have a proper meal at another hotel. Bartenders (although enthusiastic) don't know how to make a simple Mojito. The list goes on an on.

On the other hand, the hotel is very modern and is ideally located in the old part of Suzhou. The outdoor pool is fantastic (nice view of the surrounding old style buildings and secluded from the city).

What tips the balance towards my avoiding the place in the future is the noise of the guests. It used to be that I could rest at this really quiet hotel (at night as well as during the day). Now is the opposite: buffets are free for all noisy affairs. The pool is packed with yelling and impolite kids, and guests start slamming doors and yelling in the corridors at 6.30am.

I give it a pass until management trains their staff and their somewhat more impolite that average guests.

Room Tip: Get a room in the New/Business aisle. Price is almost the same but you will have nicer room, a lot l...

you will have a really good and unique experience at this hotel.
It's fancy and Hotel has a Chinese style wall and Suzhou garden.
So when you are at Suzhou, China, what are you looking for?
it's really good for business guy if they don't have time to take a look at Suzhou and Chinese garden.

The second city on my trip and it really felt like I was in China! The building is very traditional Chinese style but with all the modern comforts. I think it has been renovated recently as everything is in good condition. I liked the pool and it is good to keep fit on business trips but actually the long and pleasant walk to the rooms would have kept me fit also! The staffs were very nice and friendly and the food excellent, especially at the breakfast.

This Hotel property is unbelievably gorgeous. The architecture is distinctively Chinese and the grounds are traditional Suzhou garden style. You can tell that there has been alot of investment in the renovation and up keep of this Pan Pacific property. The layout of the hotel is a bit confusing. It has multiple levels and with the architectural style, not all corridores line up. But getting lost is also another way to explore this beautiful property.

We were assigned a room in the non-renovated/older wing of the hotel. I must say that the room was tired, worn and did need a make over. The tired room did not match the spectatular hotel lobby, grounds and breakfast resturant area. We were only there for one night, so the tired room was not that big of a deal. We rested just fine and the bathroom was adequate, If they finish the removatiions of the older wing to meet the standard of the rest of the hotel, than this place should be rated a 6 star.

The front desk help were excellent. Pan Pacific hotels are partners with many global airlines. They assisted with frequent flyer #'s and honoring reward points. They are equipped to support the International Traveller.

Breakfast buffett was generous and plentiful. Best COFFEE of any Chinese hotel we stayed at. (we stayed at 8) Had an serve yourself espresso machine. Yippee!

This hotel is amazing, beautiful Chinese architecture with the Pan Garden at the back of the hotel easily accessed and free with your room card.
We stayed in a Pacific Club room which provided breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails, so no need to eat anything else.
Lovely swimming pool which is a blessing after a hot day sight seeing. Rooms were so clean and the bed was soft.

Room Tip: Go for the Pacific Club the extra cost is definitely worth it

A large complex of interlocking buildings reflective of the old Suzhou architecture. Service was good and hardware was even better. A good place to stay if guests are in a rush and want to experience this town as the hotel is appended to an old garden with a historic pagoda. This means one need not leave the hotel to see the town's typical offerings.

A little bit far from the hustle and bustle of downtown and the old town ShanTang Street but I think this is actually a good selling point as this means one gets to have a bit of peace and quiet.

The architecture of the hotel is impressive especially for first-time visitors to China (imagine staying in a typical Chinese house that overlooks a pagoda, nice, eh?) and it also has the comforts of a western hotel. Rooms are big but very spread out, so get ready to walk a lot within the complex.

My only complain: bad food, and an impossibly expensive cup of coffee (60 RMB for a cup/ approx US$10!!!! and it's really bad bitter coffee)

Will I come back? not on my own but if i have 1st-time travellers to China, I'll still bring them here and just warn them about the food and beverage.

Room Tip: ask for rrooms near the elevators especially if one do not want to walk a loooong looong way.
