On the whole the hotel was clean and quite new. The food in the restaurant appeared to be the same everyday for breakfast so after three days I was starting to wish for something different. The restaurant tables were not well cleaned. The wait staff simply removed dirty plates and chopsticks and replaced them with clean utensils but left stains and crumbs on the table uncleaned. But they were most enthusiastic about removing your dish the moment you leaned back from eating.

The hotel room was clean and quiet. Not much of a view but not too bad. The balcony door is locked but the cleaning lady can open it for you,

That said, this is a Chinese hotel, so be prepared for smokers galore. They smoke everywhere and I mean everywhere. The non smoking rooms go quickly so book and request early. If you are a smoker you will really enjoy your stay here.

The gym opens at 7am and I wished it was much earlier. The indoor pool is huge and looks pretty clean.

I had a pretty pleasant stay there, except the constant smell of cigarettes.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Worldhotel Grand Juna for 6 nights with mixed reviews. The hotel itself is massive - high ceilings, big ballrooms, many meeting rooms, large gym, lots of hotel rooms - and is within walking distance of the Expo & Convention Centre. And that's it. Given that my husband was doing business there, I found myself taking a 30 minute taxi ride to get to the city (or anywhere else for that matter) as they have only one restaurant (which is nice but very pricey) and their spa was closed during our visit (though I expect that it also would be have been rather expensive).

On the up-side, the room was spacious, well-appointed and comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful with a deep bathtub and all of the amenities one could want! If I had to be "stuck" for a few nights somewhere, this hotel was a comfy place to do it!

One other note - google maps does not place this hotel correctly...and I had to learn the hard way (by walking 1km and finding that I was still in the middle of nowhere!).

Room Tip: If you don't want to walk for a long time, ask for a room nearest the lobby.

Was there overnight for a meeting, loved the room size and airy feel, comfortable plush carpeting and spacious bathroom. Due to the long low building, there was lots of walking to be done so wear comfortable shoes.

Lobby was very open and spacious, a bit too spacious in that it looks almost empty. The lobby lounge was nice and restaurant although had a smallish buffet offering was quite adequate. The overall location of the hotel is not wow, if you are there for a convetion at the new Convention center next door, then it is the best place to stay in. Other wise, there is nothing else around except a nice outdoor park area with rivers and waterways and an ancient town that is being developed, not sure into what tho.

I think it will be a few more years before the area becomes interesting, but otherwise it is a nice hotel if you need to be in the vicinity.

Room Tip: If you do not like walking, ask for a room nearer to the main lobby.

The hotel is in its soft-opening phase and will be officially opened in August. Rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and luxurious. Lovely views of the very quiet wetland green areas. Reception personnel speaks good English.

The adjoining big park at Wuxi Wetlands is great for families with kids. Waterways, boardwalks, a playground, basketball courts, great landscaping. The hotel will later have bikes for rent to explore the wetlands. So far, dining is limited to the hotel premises (good food) . Later, a small complex in a traditional water village 400 m from the hotel will provide more culinary attractions (Xuntang, opening planned for spring 2012)

Pool and spa of Worldhotel Grand Juna Wuxi are still under construction as of June 1, 2012

Downtown Wuxi is about 10 km to the north of the hotel and wetlands. A restored old town district has many restaurants and bars in the style of Shanghai Xintiandi.

Trains run every 30 minutes from Shanghai to Wuxi, the train ride takes 40 minutes. Hotel pickup from the train station is available.
Excellent outing for couples, groups of friends, and families to catch a few days of quiet. The hotel also caters to business travelers, especially for the exhibition Center nearby.

Soft-opening rates might be still available in June and July 2012, enquire directly at reservations
