“Good zoo and lots of animals, an overall pleasant experience.”

Zoo is fairly easy to get to. A few buses run there and taxis should be easy to get. Overall good facilities and conditions for the animals, except for the polar bear, way too small of a cage. Reptile exhibit was nicely done. Good panda exhibit (3 giants and many reds), but is nothing compare to the Chengdu Panda Reserve! Many animals in the safari/grassland area walk around freely and most you can feed by hand. Bear/lion/tiger area was well done and animals looked healthy and well fed. For 100rmb you can throw live chickens into the tigers, good times. Took a few solid hours to walk around the whole zoo. Worth the 120rmb ticket.

Went for an afternoon with a few friends - we knew it was a large zoo, but clearly we underestimated the size! We did not get to see everything there was to see; a second trip is in the works. What a beautiful zoo to visit; the walk is gorgeous, and all the animals we managed to see appeared in good health (some of them are probably OVER fed, based on the number of people purchasing treats for them).

The bear and lion enclosures left a little to be desired for me; maybe it was the vantage point from the walkway, but most of the lion enclosure in particular seemed to be little more than a converted road. The vast majority of the other animal enclosures had a natural look to them, but not so in that part of the zoo.

This was my first experience in a Chinese zoo, so it was a surprise to wander up to the leopard enclosure and see a live chicken being dangled from a line for the cats to grab and fight over. You also have the option of purchasing chickens (both live and dead/skinned) to throw to the wolves and tigers, etc. - not to mention the myriad animals you can feed with cups of fruit/vegetables, grasses, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed this unique up-close-and-personal zoo experience - petting zebras and giraffes, having llamas walk with you/stalk you for treats, and sitting down with a small collection of lemurs vying for attention!

The gift shop is very nice and reasonably priced. Picked up a few souvenirs for friends and family with the help of my (very) limited Chinese and the very nice ladies working in the shop.

Did not get a chance to take the gondola (next time!) or to see the elephant show, but those are excellent reasons to come back.

Not the cheapest attraction at 120 RMB @; but, a good zoo... especially if you like to feed the animals or have your picture taken holding the baby monkey, riding a pony, or being held by a python. The animals are in an open setting and easily viewed. There are plenty of food vendors everywhere and an excellent small animals area for the children, as well as an amusement park. Probably my favorite area was the lemurs forest at the top of the hill behind the monkeys. You can walk through this area while the lemurs jump freely through the trees (or beg for food). If you drive there, parking can be interesting...as it frequently is an any big city.

This is one of the nicer zoos in China, lots of greenery and animals that look healthy. However it is a Chinese zoo, so expect to be able buy chickens to feed the tigers or others animals. The east side is nice for a 1-2 hours of a quite day, the south gate is the main entrance and there expect to battle a lot of people and spend 4-6 hours easily. All in all a nice day out with the family. If you have little kids and have as stroller, expect to constantly have to lift it up and carry it, many walkways are not even and very bumpy.

Get up close and personal with all your favorite animals. You can pet a zebra, feed all the animals you want, and even RIDE an elephant's trunk after the Thai Elephant Show . The panda's have beautiful enclosure and chic souvenir shop. It has been the highlight of my stay. Next time I go I will ride the gondola, I enjoyed the close experience.
The only part that I did not like, was all of the birds had the end of their wings cut off, so they couldnt' fly away. I think if they built an nice enclosure for them they wouldn't have to mutilate the birds. It was sad to see.
