Hotel is located in the city area and quite near to the exhibition centre. You can take taxi to exhibition centre within 15 mins. Staff is helpful and very nice. It is very good for business trip. However, there are rooms near t the lift which is quite noisy, so u better choose room that is away from the lift. Breakfast is ok, but the variety is not much. There are shopping centre, eating street nearby, so you can eat along the street at night.

stayed here a couple of nights in september and have to say the hotel was pretty good
we arrived by train and the hotel was a short walk from the station which is handy when arriving in a new location
rooms were well appointed and though the beds were quite hard were very very comfortable
breakfast was ok, nothing special but it done the job
shower was excellent and staff were friendly and approachable
nice little market nearby too

location is really good! Stuff can hardly speak english, but the main thing for me is the rooms are clean! in China it's important:) Advice: better take higher room, starting from the 10th floor, because the hotel has events at the weekends, so the music can be easily heard even when you have 6th floor room:) Breakfast is good, western food quite eadable.

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for our 2 year wedding anniversary. Having stayed at other Holiday Inns in the past, we were expecting the same sort of comfort and service. But, were very disappointed. The Holiday Inn Express Dalian is old - and lacks a lot for a 4 star hotel. There is no gym, spa, sauna. The room has old carpet, no bathtub and slowish internet. The TV keeps on freezing. We get really cheap shampoo and conditioner and it looks of poor quality. The bed is nice enough and so is the shower. I regret not having chosen another hotel for our 2 year anniversary. It would have cost no more than $35 for a beautiful hotel in the same area. Buffet breakfast was terrible. Stale bread - and either Japanese or Korean food. If you love cogee, then great! But for me, who like eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, a selection of cereals and pastries - there was not much like that at all. The dining room was not even set out nicely. It was rather pathetic. The buffet dinner which was 98RMB pp, was rather pathetic too. It is meant to be a seafood and steak buffet. However, there was only 2 dishes that had steak and you had to wait no less than 20 or 30 minutes while they were cooked.

I would recommend to stay in another hotel. It is in a nice enough area, but there are other ones that we have seen while walking around that are much closer to the train station and city centre. Spend a few more dollars and I am sure you wont be disappointed.

The Bad:

1) The staff don't speak much english at all, if you don't speak any mandarin then you will find it difficult to communicate here. Even with 2 years of mandarin under the belt it was hard to make it clear we wanted an extra night. Prepare to pull your hair out with frustration.

2) There were lots of weddings during our stay, which meant breakfast was cut short and while you were eating the tables were getting taken away but they did warn us but still we paid for breakfast.

3) The hotel is worn but our suite was nice enough, it could really do with a refurbishment.

4) The breakfast was bland, lacked choice, no fresh fruit, all very greasy, the meat was questionable but that said it was there and inside the hotel so convenient.

The Good

1) Good location and really near a street with lots of food and western food too also near large shops and in the middle of it all.

2) Great shower with a large head and good water pressure, decent toilet and very basic toiletries.

3) Cosy soft bed with a choice of pillows, perfect after a long flight.
