Shame about service as this is a beautiful hotel. Needs some simple changes to make this hotel 5 star. The hotel and accommodation is of a very high standard. The club lounge is furnished well but the service is slow and guest needs are not noticed. Coffee is not refilled unless you get up and go to the reception and ask for another. This happened every morning of our 3 night stay. Breakfast is very poor. Slow and very little choice. Bread but no butter. Basic language barriers with staff. They say the understand your order but jasmine tea is interpreted to earl grey with milk. Over easy eggs come solid and flat with no yolk. Suite..After returning from a long day travelling on business the room had only partially services. Also room service had not removed dishes from the precious day. The toilet is electric and has a few issues! The seat closes and flushes automatically and not always at the correct time! Lighting in the bathroom is poor.
The meeting facilities in the club lounge were good with projector, TV and white board. Seating for 12 people around a large table with leather chairs. Never saw management about in the hotel. This could be a great hotel if it wasn't for the poor service and breakfast.

Room Tip: Really not sure if paying extra for Club level is worth it...

Ok so the city is polluted, and that is a big pain... but if you have to go to Jinan you have to visit the Restaurant on the top floor, is not only the view on the rotating restaurant and all the attractions you can sightseeing: from a Gigantic Golden Buda to a great lake.

Is the service... an after so many unpleasant experiences in Chinese restaurants, from overcharge, to play fool attitudes... is even a bigger pleasure, the head Cheff over there is such a gentleman, the guy playing the piano is so polite that you are willing to stay there 'til they close.

Great time, great view, great food (American also) yes American!!! is a must in Jinan.

As the first international five star hotel, Sofitel Jinan is located at the center of Jinan city, adjacient with big and luxury shopping malls like Inzone Shopping Mall, Parc 66, Shimao Plaza etc.. 5 minutes walk to Black Tiger Spring and Spring Square.

For our Silver Sky Revolving Restaurant, it is the only revolving and highest restaurant in Jinan which has attracted many guests from far away. Based on the Sofitel standard and "De-light" concept, the restaurant has its own special menus like fresh seafood, barbecue, Beijing Roast Duck, French desserts, Nea Zealand ice cream etc.. It's our great honor to provide you such a great place with 360° spring city view while enjoy an exquisite buffet in Sofitel Jinan.

Our executive Mr. Farouq is from Malasia with more than 20 years international hotels experience. His gourmet concept is to provide authentic delicacies by using the seasonal and healthy ingredients.

I've stayed there a few times for weekend breaks. I find it very relaxing and all the staff are friendly and helpful putting that extra effort in to make your stay special. Most speak reasonably good English and probably French as you get greeted with "bonjour" if you look European.
If you have a special request like a cold beer in the restaurant,(the locals believe cold drinks are bad for you), they will try to find one then put one on ice in case you ask again or even offer it to you when they see your glass is empty.
The rooms are great, the size depends on grade but facilities are similar, and the beds very comfortable in all rooms.. The revolving restaurant on the 49th floor is very good for seeing the city but its quite polluted so you can't see so much of the mountains close by the city. A large Golden Buddha sits at the base of a mountain on the city's edge which can look impressive in the morning or evening sun. The revolving restaurant is newly refurbished and can be busy so get there early for a more relaxed experience if you choose the buffet and book if you want a seat next to the window. The Italian restaurant is more relaxed.
A large square close by with musical fountains on the hour and local families having a good time flying kites or playing whip and top or just posing for photos make a nice place to visit without needing to endure the traffic congestion and close to the square the "moat" is fed by many springs where the locals full their mineral water bottles from large kettles or pumps or you can go for a boat ride on the moat. If you're brave enough to venture into the traffic bikes are available in reception.
Back in the hotel the Gym and Pool are adequate but little used and not quite to the standard of the rest of the hotel but a private Gym can be accessed from the hotel free with more modern equipment and classes. I thoroughly recommend this hotel either the staff are very well trained or selected or both and will make your stay a pleasant one.

Located at the center of Jinan City and adjacient with Spring Square, our hotel has finished his renovation with 356 new rooms in 2013, and the revolving restaurant is re-opened in Jan. 2014 which provides wide varity of gourmet based on our De-Light menu concept. Just like what you recommende, our Italian restaurant offers the most authentic Italian cuisine by using fined material and home-grow organic herb. Centrally located, close by the main motorway, very tasty and elegant rooms, top quality amenities (shampoo, soap etc..). Very proffesional, friendly and fluently English speaking staff.
The Italian restaurant inside the hotel can be avoided. I recommend the hotel very much.

I visited Jinan in April 2014 and stayed at the Sofitel Jinan. Due to a late arrival I reveived an upgrade to a Suite, this without asking! The breakfast area is spectaculair as it offer a great view on the city from the top floor of the building. Great stay for a couple days, great value for money
