I've gone in a few times to eat and its always been very tasty, Very good burgers and sausages. Service like most all restaurants in China has to be yelled for.

The philly Cheese Steak far from Philly but pretty good lacks enough beef and at least in the two I've tried could be gristly and tough to chew. They make up for that by only putting in a little beef and loading it with veggies instead. So that one might be worth a pass.

The jewel here though is the sausage. Never had a bad one from here.

If you're a local you'll be lucky enough to be able to take some home some of their local DEFA German butcher style brand packaged to take home. A great place for a dinner and beer in Laoshan.

A bonus: best hot dogs I've found in China.

Although the Zur Bierstube is located a little too far out for most tourists to stumble upon it, it can easily be combined with some sightseeing. Shilaoren beach is 200 meters away, adjacent is the marvelous Grand Theater and otherwise it's on the way to or from Laoshan.
The restaurant brings a welcome western option in Qingdao, where non-Asian eateries are scarce. The dishes are a Dutch-German mixture including bitter ballen, kroketten and erwtensoep. The best alternative to making a trip to Europe for German or Dutch expats.

In Qindao there are two Bierstube Restaurants. One is in the old german part of the city and one is next to the beer festival area somwhere more to the east.
We visited both. The eastern restaurant looks a little industrial but its still cozy. The restaurant in the german part fits a little better into the context and its also more cozy.
The food is great- the fried Potatos are good and the Schnitzel really nice. Also the other Meals are good. The beer is not too expensive like the whole menue in general. The staff is helpful and friendly. Good place to go if you long for Schnitzel and good beer!

We ate at this restaurant in August after visiting the beer festival,it was very busy but we were served fairly quickly.

The food is typical German fare and fairly calorific although we did have salads for starters. We didn't have the pork knuckle as we had a small child with us and it would have been too long to wait.

We enjoyed our meal and would visit again.

We encountered "Zur Bierstube" in the German street, which seems to be the newer location of the two. The food was good. Best German sausages we had so far in China. The staff is nice but they have difficulty getting the order right. We ordered as side dishes mashed potatoes and sauerkraut but got potato salad instead. We decided to try the "Zur Bierstube" of Nanling Road due to the fact that is has outdoor seating. There the order went ok. One of the dishes we had ordered was the Erbsensuppe which looked real good on the menu. Once we received and tried it we were very disappointed since it did not taste like anything, more like a water soup. We told the waitress and she said: "sorry". The owner was there and my husband told him that the dish was not good but he did seem not to care and it was charged just like nothing had happened. Well, they brought out a few salt sticks which I guess were meant to be a way "making good", but they did not since we did not particularly care for them and did not eat them.
I gave an average rating due to the fact that the Erbsensuppe thing should not be dealt with the way it was done.
