great choice in t quingqao, the hotel is NEW, what is in my perspective a very good starting point.
the breakfast is well served, with plenty of options for both western and Chinese.
the bedrooms are large and can easily fit an extra bed.
the pool is very good, the gym is fair and the beach is really for walking only... at the end you are not in the tropics anyway.
the bars are great with good selection of beers and wine.
it is a 5 star hotel

The hotel is located nicely at the shore and staff is friendly and willing to go the extra mile.
When I arrived I was, once they checked my name escorted to the club floor to process my check in. Its not something I am too fond off but as I was not in a rush I decided to go with the flow. To my surprise this was one of the nicest Recency Clubs in terms of space, large but I mean set up with lots of space between the seating area's and beautifully decorated, for my taste of course.

The room was nice, bathroom as one can expect from an upmarket Hyatt but as mentioned by many others, bed very hard. A general trend in Asia which I do not support.
The room appears spacious due to the glas wall between bathroom and rest of the room but with a nice 'active' glass you can blur if you wish so.

The only actual 'problem' i had is that the internet was very slow. I mean, I was even having problems getting mail in and out and especially when attachments were incl.
Having said that the Hyatt has developed a new system whereby the either give you free of charge or for card holders free internet. But its at basic speed........well speed, no its almost going back to the stone age.
Of course you can get the high speed version, but.....please pay.
I had this trip the same experience in Bangkok Hyatt and to some extend Hyatt Recency Hong Kong too.
I find it for the cards holders with a higher ranking a slap in the face and to me its being toooo smart Hyatt! Remember so many hotels offer real high speed internet for free nowadays.

As I only stayed for 2 nights and taking the next day the high speed train to Zibo up and down for meetings I discovered that the hotel was a little bit outside in relation to the train station. It leaves me the impression that if you need to be downtown you might not favor this hotel but if you don't mind to be in traffic in the morning its worthwhile to make this your choice.

All in all I had a very positive stay and feeling about this hotel.

I was in Qingdao for a convention. It took place at this hotel.

Rooms are very cozy. They have a nice bed with a a good lights set up. Also noise isolation is very good.

Breakfast buffet was nice . Very complete. The cafeteria area is huge.

It is defensively a 5 star complete hotel.

The Hotel is very nice, but whoever chose the beds needs to get a different job! Even in China where the beds are VERY hard, you expect more from a 5 star Hotel. I have been in China for 3 years and have stayed with many different Hotel chains. The beds at this Hyatt are HORRIBLE, I am used to harder beds, but these beds belong in a Chinese 2 star Hotel. Next time I will choose the Shangri-la, Marriott, or the Sheraton, just to name a couple.

I stayed only for a couple of nights during a business trip. It is a rather new hotel. Staff is very friendly. The hotel is directly at the beach, but some minutes driving outside city center and the very nice marina.
I stayed at an executive floor and therefore had access to the regency lounge. Which is nice during "happy hour" t get a quick bite to eat. Breakfast in there is not so nice, as of the few guests seem to use it, the cold cut and salmon was already quite dry and the cheese was melting

been to Qingdao often and decided to try new Hyatt and I was blown away
The large open room, the luxurous touches, elegant lobby -stayed on club floor and the club room food service and food were excellent was ( but wines were real lousy and warmed Cabernet just doesnt work)
Its 20 minutes away or so from shopping areas and main business streets but taxis are plentiful and only a $3 ride
This is my hotel in Qingdao for the forseeable future
Leaving tehnhotel one of the staff ran over with a warm towel as she noticed a spt on my rain jacket-Thats service!!!

Room Tip: room facing water
