“One of the five left”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

Apparently this is one of the five screens left in China.
It is a bit out of the way, outside the city wall, a bit hidden.
We went in for free, over 70...

“Most beautiful attraction in Datong city!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2014

This screen is just amazing: the colors and the dragons picture are well done and astonishing.

The problem is the location: difficult to find and not well promoted!! I was almost the only tourist there while other meaningless area of the town where full of Chinese tourists!
It is located on the north-east side of the old town - north-east of Drum Tower - and you can only access there from the north street - not pedestrian area!

I think the local authority have to advertise better this important attraction and piece of history, because it's one of the most beautiful things you can see in Datong! And you can just see it for 10rmb!
The surrounding area is really disappointing and creepy: there is just the screen placed there with nothing around like it could be in any other place. The location is really disappointing!

“Beautiful! Worth seeing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013

This is just a work of beauty. Plus, the place it is located is a quiet small park with a few benches, conducive to being reflective.

“Hard to rate this historic Ceramic Screen”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

This is a large Ceramic Screen depicting Nine Dragons. There are several around the country and reading the comments one has to conclude that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder! It is located in town and if you are in town go visit it.
It is large and depending on the time of the day, the light can make photography tough. It has as with most attractions, historic value. The condition is not great, but so are many attractions that have survived through the years, this screen has seen better days.

“Bit disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

I was a bit disappointed with this Nine Dragon Screen. It looks like an excavation site with a Nine Dragon Screen wall sitting in the middle of it. It is is unkept and poorly maintained. The tourist facilities (food, drink, and toilets) is basically non existent or too poor in standard to use. Bit of a shame really as I was excited to see this and had not read previous reviews. With a bit of work and care in the area, this would be worth the visit, but in it's present state, unless you really have to see it, give it a miss.
