“Not sure about this place”
Reviewed 19 May 2014 via mobile

As a Chinese who has grown up in such traditional streets, kuanzhai street seems quite normal and sometimes artificial. Food and events are a little over priced there. Some street decorations are new and apparently mordern. I feel the decorations are trying almost too hard to show off how special this place is. It just does not feel geniune (if you compare to Lijiang ancient towns for example, though some of them are burnt down...). In general I would not stay in Kuanzhai Ancient Street for long if I were given the chance to plan my travel in Chengdu again.

“Cute”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

The pretty little lanes are full of shops and tea houses, it gets quite crowded though. Very popular with Chinese tourists.

“Narrow Wide: Cultural and Historical”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

This place is amazing. Try to avoid weekends and public holidays if possible. It's not hard to find from the nearest Metro station (Tonghuimen). Walking down the 2 alleys, you will feel you're somewhere in between the old and the modern Chinese world. You can still feel the Chinese atmosphere around here despite of the heavy development going through in Chengdu. Drop by and stroll for probably an hour or two and eat your heart out here.

“Excellent place to go, but way over price, its an outsiders' spending place”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

as a guy who was grown up from that street, I can tell you it has nothing looks like it was and it was rebuilt as a pure commercial area and it is now a good place to take a walk around but do not eat there.
local people rarely dinning there, cause not just the foods price are more than tripled than the same style , same level restaurants outside that area. the taste is not good too.

and for that hot pot place honored Michelle Obama, sorry, it is just got lucky that day she went there, priced very high and the taste is no no.

“Kuan Zhai (Wide & Narrow Street) Ancient Street of Qing Dynasty”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

A must do. Narrow alley ways (even the wide one), with eclectic shops, clean street food stalls, bars and tea houses. A great vibe with stunning architecture. Highly recommend trying the street food as it's all really clean and tasty.
