“Well preserved wooden architecture of a peaceful monastery”
Reviewed 11 April 2013

I took a bus to this temple outside Chengdu and got there in less than one hour in a small suburb town named Xindu. I appreciate the monks' effort to preserve the wooden structures and beautiful surroundings and a thick woods behind the monastery. The tower in the middle is said to house the Buddha's relic, not to mention several more pavillions having ancient Buddha statues. I found peace in this place, not to mention meeting devout Buddhists of all ages. Three women were carrying 2 cages of about 30 birds, to set them free in the woods of the forest. I asked to join them in the merit making event, and they said that it must be good karma for a foreigner to join them in this kind act. That was my highlight of the visit, in addition to so much peace in such a special place.

“Well maintained Temple”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

This is a good place for anyone who wish to have a better understanding in Buddhism. I spent more than 2 hours looking at the hand made statues of Buddhas, Bodhisatvas and the 577 pieces of Arahants. Entrance fee is CNY5. The location of this temple is about 18 kilometers away from Chengdu

“Fantastic temple”

Baoguang is really a special place. It's in Xindu, which is a suburb of Chengdu. I'd reccomend a couple hours at least to explore the temple grounds. It's an ideal place to spend a quiet afternoon.
