This hotel was within walking distance of a bakery, bottle-o (liquor store), the busy market street, and restaurants. The porters were attentive and most spoke very good English (better than the ladies at reception). The lobby and restaurant always seemed busy and popular. As is to be expected in China, the plumbing is imperfect, and the pipe below our hand basin fell off. The reception staff were quick, however, to send the maintenance man up to fix it and it was fixed within a couple of hours.
We were quite tired during our two days in Urumqi, so we ordered room service both nights. The vegetable salad was quite nice the first night but the same dish was different the 2nd night, and was heavy on the onions.
The price we paid (238 yuan w/ breakfast) as walk-in customers was quite a bit lower than the rack rate advertised on the board in reception.
