We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and had a more modern feel than you typically find in Xinjiang. We travel with two children and the hotel staff were flexible about us staying in the same room and wheeled in a cot (rock-hard, but better than nothing). The room was a bit dark and the window was small, but there was plenty of space. The hotel is about a half hour away from the airport and centrally located, with restaurants and shops nearby. It's very much a Chinese hotel in a Chinese neighborhood -- you aren't going to see much of the local Uigher culture unless you venture to other parts of town. The hotel has a music theme -- there are instruments on display and piano keyboard motifs everywhere (even on the bar of soap and on the shower door). A little corny but charming in its way. The breakfast buffet was good. As a previous reviewer pointed out, it's Chinese style, so no omelettes or pastries.

When we arrived we were told that there was a power failure affecting the whole street. The hotel said that they have their own generator so it would be ok.
The generator is not that big so a few things did not work. They kept the lights off in most public places including the lobby. There was no AC and the shower water was not really hot.
Considering the price of the room, we complained to the front desk and asked for a discount. They offered 15%. We aid that it was not enough. They called later and offered a 50% discount which we accepted.
Towels are thick and mattress is soft, signs of a good hotel. There was free wifi which is exceptional in that part of the world. They also had a fancy toilet with a heated seat and bidet functions.
We had to catch a 9am flight and breakfast only starts at 8am so we have no idea if it is any good. Getting 2 taxis at 7am took nearly 20 minutes.

This hotel also goes by the name "Musbox Hotel". It was by far the most comfortable of all the hotels we stayed in at Urumqi.

The rooms are decorated in a modern style and the bathrooms are big with heated toilet seats. The beds are soft and there is an iPod dock on the alarm/radio. The breakfast is Chinese style and a bit limited.

The hotel is in walking distance from many of the bars and clubs. The staff were great and genuinely helpful from time to time. You won't need Mandarin to be able to stay here if your requests are straightforward.

We tried the deluxe and the standard business rooms. The deluxe gave you a bigger room and a sofa but the fittings were more or less the same so go for the standard business single room unless you really want to stretch out.

This was the only hotel we stayed at in Xinjiang that had wifi. It was a bit patchy at times but was generally running.

This hotel would be my first choice again if staying in Urumqi. The hotel has an airport shuttle service but you need to give 24 hours notice to use it. The staff can otherwise arrange a private car for you if you don't fancy wrangling a taxi.

There is a very nice Chinese hotpot restaurant just next door to the hotel.

The unlicensed taxi driver took us from the airport to a karaoke box about 3 blocks away from the hotel with a similar name to the hotel so watch out for that one!

I stayed here coz it is #1 reviewed hotel in ctrip.com. The location of this hotel is among the e-products--so if you want to buy accessories for cell phone etc, this hotel is very close to them.
The room is small, but very clean. Bed is comfort. Bath is very new, modern and toilet is the wash-let. Service people are extremely responsive. There was a little AC problem when I stayed in hotel for the whole day watching TV coz I was tired. My son enjoys the theme of this hotel-music very much. He like the music box most.

Amazingly modern hotel (may-be new), beautiful room with floor to ceiling windows and view on the many high buildings in the center of town, very good bedding, exceptionally vast shower, automatic toilet-flushing; good restaurant, friendly service. The communication in english was difficult at times at the reception, but the staff was helpful and things went well.
