This hotel was the last of my trip through Western China and it was a comfortable bed but the A/C wasn't on because it wasn't "summer" yet. You will encounter this phenomenon throughout China. Luckily the window opened and it wasn't too too hot but A/C would have been nice. The breakfast was fair and they even had bacon and ham although they were kind of hidden away from the rest of the food. Keep the halal food separate in a Muslim province right? Located next to the Urumqi government office there is a nice plaza people fly kites in across the street and a KFC and convenience store nearby if you so desire.

The room was spacious and well kept. Heater was working, keeping us warm without needing the blanket for a good night rest. The staff even served complimentary warm milk to us upon our return from shopping! Breakfast was good, with a good mix of western, muslim and chinese fare. Too bad they did not have scrambled egg.

Stayed there in november for 4 nights futing a business trip.
Hotel and services are eccellent. Very good food.
Only internet connection sometime has some problems.
Rooms are ok, clean and well equipped.
Spa centre is ok too, even if not so new.
Staff is friendly and efficient.
Anyway a good choice, for business or tourist passengers.

This is a very nice hotel in a good location. Our room was very spacious, the bed was very firm and with very clean sheets. The bath room is very clean, with adequate toiletries for our needs and two bathing areas. The front entrance is being renovated and we have to use a side entrance but it wasn't a hassle at all. We stayed there for two enjoyable nights.

The previous reviewer said it very well. Renovations being done to 1st and 2nd floor, creating a unfavorable first impression. If you can get past having to go through the business center to a temporary front desk/cashier/checkout, everything else is acceptable. The hotel has poor circulation in the public areas with a constant 2nd hand smoke odor.

The air conditioning in our room helped take away the smell from the previous occupant who was a smoker. Contrary to previous reviews, our air conditioning worked very well. Our room, 1824 was nicely furnished and clean. Very nice bed linens and towels. The king bed was softer than many Chinese beds we have slept on.

Our bathroom was spacious with separate shower and bathtub, supplying the usual bath amenities, shampoo, bath gel and lotion.

Breakfast had the usual hot and cold offerings. Good selection of fresh fruit which appealed to us.

We stayed 2 nights on holiday (family of 2 adults & 3 children) at Hoi Tak. They don't have a concept of "connecting rooms", but we got adjacent ones. Renovation has closed the first and second floors - so there isn't a proper reception, the western restaurant is closed and you'll have to haul your bags up a few steps to get to the elevators. The all pervading lingering smell of old cigarette smoke that characterizes most hotels in China's second-tier cities continues here too. Despite these shortcomings, the rooms are spacious, bathrooms clean and stocked with amenities, drinking water on tap, and the location convenient - right opposite a large park, and within walking distance of shopping centres, street food, KFC, Pizza Hut etc.The breakfast spread (served temporarily at the Chinese restaurant due to the renovations) has a good variety of hot and cold choices. English speaking at the reception was difficult but we were served quickly. Overall, a convenient and practical hotel to stay in for a short stopover.

I stayed two nights at the Hoi Tak Hotel. Rooms are a little old and probably not up to the hype of the hotel's advertising, but they are comfortable. Beds are hard but not so that you can't sleep. Bathrooms are dated and a makeover is due. However the service is good and the breakfast varied and interesting. The food is all Muslim style so it is not easy to find Western breakfast cereals and the like. Wifi not available but you can get cable internet in the rooms. Great central location right across the street from a central park area where people exercise in the mornings. Air outside is foul, not surprising given this is China's most poluted city, especially once the heaters for the city come on in late October. Overall, a typical Xinjiang hotel promising much but delivering less.
