“Good location, value and service for this part of the world”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2013

As a business guy who travels a lot, I like this hotel. What you see is what you get, no more, no less. I think that for Urumqi, you probably can't do much better, but I saw a Sheraton in town I think, although I haven't stayed there.

You have what you need for work, good work space in the room, internet and room service.

The staff have limited English at the front desk for those guests who don't speak mandarin. If you spend a lot of time in China, its worth learning mandarin, its not hard.

Its lively outside the hotel at night with street vendors and the public wandering around. So there is a bit of local interest for guys when they want a break from the email.

As is usually the case, self styled 5 star hotels in this part of China are not what we understand 5 start to be, they are really three , maybe four star - as this place is.

I like the local food and taste so the breakfast suits me, but I could understand if the unadventurous western traveler were disappointed given its not geared to westerners.

The room is comfortable, clean and quiet. Mine had a great view of the mountains.

Gee this is a nice town, a long way from anywhere, but very nice.

This hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Unfortunately, the quality and cleanliness of hotels in China varies a lot, but this hotel is definitely one I can recommend. It has some small annoyances though and I hope these will be addressed.

The room wasn't all that big, but due to a clever arrangement of the furniture it came across as spacious.

The work desk was a long shelf positioned directly at the window. It provided sufficient space, but only one combi power outlet. There was also a comfortable and adjustable office chair. There only seemed to be a fixed internet connection though, no Wi-Fi. That is fine with me, but something to keep in mind. The internet was complimentary and fast enough for my needs.

The TV had several international channels, including National Geographic and HBO, but the quality was rather poor. The sound level also greatly varied across the channels, leading to loud surprises when checking the channels. The HBO channel had a very high pitched sound and was not usable. Perhaps just a bad TV unit.

The bathroom was comfortable, but long and narrow. This was again solved with some clever arrangements, but I missed a towel rack for the larger towels. The one on the glass shower door was too low for these towels. The shower cabin had a regular shower as well as a rain shower, but the former could not be adjusted in height and was mounted way too low for a 6 feet tall person. Kind of clumsy and easy to fix.

There was a water boiler, but no (powder) coffee. Tea only. Not even a spoon, so bring your own coffee and stirring tool if you like to make coffee in your room.

There was an in-room safe, but rather small and only useful for some small personal belongings. It won't fit a 13" or 15" laptop for example.

The breakfast buffet was okay, but very much geared towards Asian guests. Quite some choices in warm food, but not so much for a Western style breakfast. There were cereals, two types of home made bread of a reasonable quality and there was real coffee, but I couldn't find any cheese, ham or jam for example. It also struck me that some choices were rather limited. For example, only orange or apple juice, nothing else. It was adequate for a simple but decent breakfast though and the eggs were cooked to order. The staff also spoke English well enough. A real bummer was that smoking seemed to be allowed.

Altogether this is a nice hotel with a friendly staff.

A clean, very nice Chinese hotel based in this north west city. Overall my stay was excellent, and the rooms clean, the beds comfy and the showers hot. There is english TV, but by bbc channel was a bit blurry, hbo worked fine though. Breakfast stared at 7am but don't be out off by the lower lights and lack of staff, it is on but takes some time to get going, including putting it all out. Again front desk and restaurant staff spoke basic english and were very friendly and polite. My one watch out is that there is wired Internet in the rooms which is good and fast but the wifi in the lobby only is a little slow so issues with downloads onto my ipad and not being able to download something's on time - give yourself plenty of time.

Room Tip: A high floor away from the elevator is recommended. Be aware that in the winter the room temperature...

This was a nice Chinese hotel. The location was good with a brilliant night market just across the road. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There was even a few English tv channels (HBO, BBC & CNN).
The swimming pool was ok, but the changing rooms left something to be desired.
The breakfast was disappointing (not terrible). Our deal included one breakfast, but each additional breakfast was 128Rmb.
It was good having a free internet connection included in the room price.

Nice, well kept Chinese business hotel. Better than most, but not a "five star" hotel in the international sense. Set in a lively neighborhod. Maybe the best choice in Urumqi.

I stayed at this hotel because read in this site that they have English speaking staff. I was not disappointed! They were very welcoming and help me to find my way around the city. Room was comfortable and well appointed with great views of the city and mountains. Swimming pool was a bit dark and difficult to find. Breakfast was slightly limited in options but still offered plenty to eat and drink. Location was fantastic for night market and in all it was very good value to stay there.
