“Nothing but shopping in Ningbo”
Review of Tianyi Square

Tiyanyi Square is also known as "downtown" by most foreigners living in Ningbo. This was the first place I was shown my people who were already living in Ningbo. It's a brilliant panorama of shopping, food and people. There is no place like the city centre to make you fall in love or hate a new city.

Nearby you'll find Tesco, KFC, McDonalds, Westin Hotel, many other shops like H&M and various Chinese branded shops. There's also a plethora of shops selling smarthones - too many for my liking.

For families there's some beautiful water fountains. On weekends I noticed kids playing in plastic bubbles on the water. You can easily find underground parking, take a taxi or many bus routes who all converge on Tiyanyi Square.

Tianyi square is something of a meeting point for the Ningbonese. And there are many places to do so, from the numerous coffee shops and restaurants to the various outdoor seating areas. There is also a water display in the central area of the square but it tends to look a bit grimy.

Tianyi square sums up modern China quite well in that it has all the luxury brands but no character and soul. You could be anywhere, if Ikea offered flat-pack shopping squares it would look something like Tianyi square.

Tesco, and some electronics stores, and some upscale shopping, Starbucks is large, and good comfortable seating. Sometimes they have events, with some stadium style seating by the main fountain pond, or in the main plaza.

Just fun to walk around esp. In the springtime when Chinese girls make fashion statements while shopping around. Colours are lovely in the summer too, with gorgeous umbrellas they carry. Try Mango Thai nearby for great food.

Lots of shopping malls, shops and restaurants. Always some sort of exhibition on the weekends inside the square, if nothing else they will be selling cars.
