“Lovely place and friendly staff”
Reviewed 14 March 2014 via mobile

Stayed there for 3 nights in March 14 and I only have a single thing to critisize: the beds are really hard. Otherwise Alejandra (English-speaking manager) and her staff are caring, attentive and helpful, which is - unfortunately - not the standard in Colombia. The 5 or 6 rooms aren't that big but clean, bright and totally sufficent for that price. What else can you ask for? The pool is small, the terrace with all the plants around let you forget that you are in a city. The neighborhood is safe, quiet and you can reach the bustling city within 15mins by walking. The owner of the hotel is Swiss, so you can expect a good organization ;-) Would definitely go back!

A nice place for staying bit here. Expensive for backpackers. Good service by the woman in the Hotel good breakfast. But the guy in the hotel wasn't that helpful for us. They can have some maps or they can tell where to go where to not. But taxi from bus station 13.000COP. The beds are hard but big and clean! The pool is that that big maybe just go in and sit.

Dear Yusuf, thank you for your comments. I am sorry to hear you did not get the help you were looking for at the front desk. Maps are tough to find in Cali...this is something we have to work for because it is very important. This information definitely helps us improve our service. Once again thank you for choosing Jardin Azul Casa Hotel as your accommodation option in Cali and thank you for writting a review!! Alejandra

We had a wonderful stay at the Jardin Azul: Alejandra the terrific and fluent English-speaking manager, and her team, are so welcoming and put up with all kinds of requests, including a room change, with great humour. We asked for a change so could have a balcony - bit more expensive but worth it if you're staying for more than a night). The small back garden with its little pool and well-stocked fridge from which you can help yourself to beers and soft drinks is a luscious oasis of greenery, birdlife and peace - very pleasant as Cali's quite humid - although it does get agreeably cool in the evenings. The rooms are spacious and beds very comfortable but be aware that while the Jardin Azul is not exactly in the 'centre' of Cali, you can walk to San Antonio, which is a lively and interesting neighbouring Cali barrio (try the upstairs bar by the small park). Cali is a great city - not yet as firmly on the visitor map as Medellin, but it soon will be. There's a buzz and energy to Cali that seemed to sum-up Colombia's new-found confidence and growing influence. One tip for the ladies: although this might seem an almightly waste of time, if not downright shallow on such a trip, I was desperate for a haircut and highlights not having set foot in a salon for some months! Alejandra recommended Javier Lopez (who does her hair) and it was a fantastic experience. The attention to detail compared to the chain I use in London was incredible and I left after three hours feeling sooo much better! For the first time in my life (to the literally jaw-dropping disbelief of the salon staff) I had a manicure on my stubby nails and could not believe the difference. So: full head of highlights, wash, cut, condition, etc etc plus the manicure was about 55 quid. At least half of what I pay in London (hence only sporadic visits to a salon!). Javier set up his laptop so we could communicate better than my lamentable Spanish allowed. Recommended if you have the time. Alejandra also organised a taxi into town, driven by the entertaining Luis Zapata. Again, if you're pushed for time or you fancied a quick tour, Luis could zap you around Cali and tell you its history in his inimitable English. Other than that an evening walk around the river is lovely and don't miss the cat statues, even if you're not a cat person. I'm not but still loved them. Enjoy the Jardin Azul while it's still the way it is and before Cali gets discovered big time...which itself is only a matter of time.

Excellent, a lovely garden with small pool. If we were not moving off quite early, it would have been lovely to sit out there. A huge room, spotlessly clean. The staff were excellent, very helpful with information regards eating and conversations about the country.A pleasant area of Cali, with local restaurants easy to reach.

Room Tip: No preference

I really enjoyed my couple day stay at Jardin Azul when we arrived in Cali. The staff was very accommodating as our arrival from the airport was late. The gardens and pool area was beautiful. I could have spent my whole vacation here!!!
Just wish there was coffee in the room, as I was up very early and would have loved to have it sitting on the balcony.

Room Tip: We had a room with a balcony, it was great!

We loved our stay here. The rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The neighborhood is very quiet and the garden makes the place serene. The hospitality was wonderful. A fridge stocked with drinks (including kombucha), the pool, breakfast with french press coffee, information about the city, and an overall chill vibe are a few of the reasons we can't wait to go back.

I stayed here a couple nights after my tour for the World Games. They didn't elevate their prices during the games, and they had lovely, quaint and personal service. We arrived early and they accommodated our bags while we went out. The owner checked us in, but didn't seem to speak any English. The other two people working there at a later time spoke fluent English, but I was at a bit of a loss upon arrival. It seemed to be a clean and quiet neighbourhood that seemed reasonably safe. The room itself seemed bare, but comfortable and clean; although the floor boards creaked so loud I thought I'd wake up anyone below me! The pool was refreshing and the garden was an oasis within the city. We were even asked what time we would expect to eat breakfast, and it was made upon our arrival into the garden dining area. It was a very comfortable stay, and I would definitely stay here again!
