Well known for its ceviche, we found this restaurant quite regular and average. Ceviche was fine but not fabulous. There are far nicer restaurants in Cartagena to have ceviche for the same value and with a more pleaseant room than this one.

We went to La Cevicheria twice on our visit to Cartagena. Yeah, yeah, we watched the Anthony Bourdain segment on Cartagena and that was definitely a reason we first tried it, but we came back because it was really delicious!

The restaurant is bright, full of bright blues and eclectic art on the wall. Its a small place and it might take reservations, but we arrived around 7/7.30 PM in the low season and had no problem getting a seat.

The menu includes a lot of shellfish, which we don't each, so it narrowed our choices quite a bit. We tried the cocktail of fish Ceviche (coconut and lime - amazing!) and had the Peruvian Fish Ceviche which came with a mashed sweet potato, two big plantain chips smothered in guacamole, and salad. Really tasty.

We also had their house desert which was cheese covered in guava sauce which we really loved.

This is what I will say, very delicious. You don't need to each get one main, get an appetizer and get one main dish. That will keep the cost down a little. The cocktails were good, but the Coconut Lemonade might have been better so stick with that. We were definitely wozered by how expensive Cartagena felt and once we started sharing more, we felt better about costs. We wish we could have tried more homey places, but, the heat was getting to us.

Because so many restaurants were so expensive, we opted to return here because we knew it was a good value for our money and not something we could eat very often in DC!

We spent 4 days in Cartagena and have been 3 times there. We tried the ceviches and the Paella which was well served and really good. The personal is really nice. Prices are not expensive, but bigger glasses for the coco limonade would be great!

We were attracted to La Cevicheria because it was featured on Anthony Bourdain's show. The ceviche was indeed very good, though the portions were huge. I had Peruvian red snapper traditional ceviche, which was tangy and pleasant. All ceviche is served with these saltine-type crackers, which made a very good, light vessel for it. The decor inside is very cute: nautical themed. It was however much too brightly lit. I wish we had opted for one of the little tables facing the beautiful plaza. Like many restaurants in Cartagena, it was not cheap, but I felt it was worth it.

After walking around el centro historico on the search for a restaurant that was economical and not meat-heavy, we ended up at La Cevicheria. The space is snall and inviting. Really bright lights but it was okay once we sat. The menu is exhaustive but there are intriguing combinations of flavors and titles. I settled on the Peruvian Ceviche. The featured fish in the ceviche was red snapper. The ceviche tasted fresh and the limey flavor was tart and delicous. It was served alongside two large plantain chips smeared in avocado/guacomole. That side was lovely. There were also con nuts with it. I was delighted with it. The menu features items on the high-end pricing scale but also offers a few moderately priced dishes. The mojitos were nice too. On the back of the menu, Mr. Anthony Bourdain is featured with the owner of La Cevicheria. i'm pleased I tried it.
