I spent 3 weeks at Casa Mara and I loved it. I think it's a great value for the money. It was more of a hotel than a hostel. The staff is amazingly friendly, the rooms were ok, the pool is beautiful, the location is perfect (in Getsemani), I could not ask for more. I found the clients vary in age, I have never seen any backpacker, but young people in their thirties and older couples. I was a student at a Spanish school in the area and most of the young people there were also learning Spanish in Cartagena. I paid 60,000 pesos (about $30) for 1 person. Just a tip, don't take room 8. Rooms 6 and 7 are better. The rooms have AC and a TV. Everything was clean. They also have a laundry service and can arrange all the trips around for the same price as everywhere. Overall great!
